Yup, just left.

65/hr for electronics
75/hr for performance

FYI, I just posted in Spotted. There's a new Scuderia 16M at Benchmark. I snapped a photo from my phone.

Don't forget parts/materials for custom fabrication.

Benchmark installed a 9500ci system in my Scuderia.

When they had the car, they put 800 miles on, put an 18" scratch in the driver's door, scuffed up TWO of the wheels, and tore the alcantara seat on the passenger side.

Just kidding ... they did a fantastic job. Their reputation for high quality is well earned.

Whenever you bring electronics from another source (E-bay for example) to a professional installer for installation the installer has no idea what the electronics package has experienced. If they take on the installation they run the risk of frying the customers wiring harness and the cars other electronic systems. Not unlike taking a steak into a restaurant and asking the cook to prepare it for you, or bringing your own oil to shop and asking them to change it for you.

People do it all the time, but I think it's tacky at best as people make their money by selling the both PRODUCT and the SERVICE. If you wish to do business this way, don't expect warranty assistance or problem troubleshooting at the same level as if you bought the product from the installer.

BTW +1 for Benchmark. They've installed the SRX in my A3 and the 9500ci in my Porsche and hardwired the V-1s in both, plus the I-pod hook up for the Porsche. Quality work always.

Suppose that makes me tacky "at best". I appreciate your feedback/opinion.

I sold the AVIC + stuff on E-bay instead. Not a bad way to get up a bit of cash for more toys. Managed to get my cost back out of it so no complaints here.

Also, as for Benchmark not installing it, I can understand their position on it. I was prepared to pay for their service and install quality. I'd still go to them today if I wanted something done. But I was just interested to hear their 'policy' isn't quite set in stone there

H20Skier - I already have the jawbone and it works great. Thanks for the rec though!

Benchmark has installed equipment for me that wasn't purchased from them. I've had them do two major stereo installs in different cars. Their work is top notch. They balked at first, but I just negotiated and hassled them, told them they would get future work from me, and that I would refer business.

However, with that said, they are expensive as @#$@#$@#. Just negotiate, tell them, "sorry too expensive..but call/email me back if you can do it for this..." and wait a few weeks. Never pay their initial quote - they will relax pricing if you push them.

My 2 cents...

[EDIT: oops, missed the other thread as it looks like you got the install - congrats]
