Oct 23-24th ORP track day

Hey, i knew a few of members up here frequently visit that track, there's a 2 day open lapping and I just sign up for the Sunday.

Wondering if anyone is going there from here, so I can come by and say hi.

I think Jason is headed down for that. He's on his way to China now, but might chime in when he gets a chance.

I'm not so sure it's an "open lapping" weekend. I was under the impression that it was a private event for "invited guests." I could be wrong about that though.

Good morning all,I can appreciate ORP not being a novice track, from the posted pictures it looks like a lot of fun and challenges.I really want to take a refresher driving school before any driving events to see if I have any skills left. I stopped autocrossing and doing track days in the early 90's,so I dont want to be a hazard to anyone else.Any recommendations on schools/classes in the NW ?

There are a lot to choose from. Near Seattle, the Porsche or BMW clubs are your best bet if you have time and little cash. Proformance Racing School is your best bet if you have cash and little time. The clubs building you up over several skills days and DE days. Proformance does it in one day followed by the first half of your next "track day" being with one of their instructors.

You can also, should you be interested in dirt driving, go to Dirt Fish Rally school in Sammamish. I'd say that is way more fun than any of the above options!

Trevor

Yeah, ORP is great but it wouldn't be much fun to learn on. Its a pretty safe course but it has a LOT going on. Which makes it fun for more advanced drivers.

If I had my choise of places to learn on, it would be Portland. Very flat and reasonably safe compared to Pacific Raceways. Pavement is way better too.

^^^ that''s the one. I go every year to the PCA skills day in january. Almost garunteed to have a wet surface which is easy on tires and helpful to build car control skills.

As a driver, you get to sit in the car all day and stay warm. I always turn the "butt warmers" on to be nice to the intructors and I try to take a buddy that is new to the sport.

The skills day is normally open to non-members of the PCA.
