I'm going for sure, and have 4 buddies signed up already... Found a great place to stay too. Let's pick a place to gather on Friday or Saturday night? Somewhere in SOCO ( South Congress)

After the weekend we had in Reno/Virginia City for the Spectre race, we decided that we're going to go back for the Spectre race again next year. This means we'll miss the 2012 Grand Prix as both Races are scheduled for the same day. Little bit of a bummer, but it'll be a LOT cheaper for us I guess. The USGP is slotted for the next 10 years I think, so we'll have plenty of time to see it in future years....

F1 Austin...

I found a townhouse about 17 minutes from the track and rented it already. Prices for that weekend doubled the next week. So I recommend that you get your accommodations lined up ASAP.

Darn. June 17th is Father's Day ... I'll be spending that day with my boys, and I don't think they're old enough yet to be able to enjoy an F1 race (although they will watch the race with me a little on TV ... oh, how proud I am to have one son supporting Red Bull Racing ... LOL)

Just got word that the US GP in 2012 is being moved from June to November. It would be the second to the last race in the series, the last race being in Brazil.

Not true; Yet.... It was proposed by the FIA, but the teams protested too many back to back races at the end of the schedule. To date, Nothing has been decided, and the official schedule will come out in the fall.

Exactly. They were talking about it during the last race. The broadcasters said that tickets will not be on sale until the official schedule comes out in the fall.

Recently I've been hearing about the construction work being halted due to contract disputes; Anyone have a reliable update on this?

Track seating...

After a close look at the track setup and grandstand placement; I'm starting to think a GA ticket from turn 1-3 will be the best combination of Cost vs. visibility. Because you have the high ground, Cars in turns 12-18 will likely be visible. the first half of the front straight will have them behind buildings. Then you get turns 1-4 or 5 depending on sight lines. But there will be no grandstands up top that limit views. If trees aren't a factor, that slightly more than half the track.

So, Drivers vs. Fly ? Who's doing what?

Pressman, would you mind posting a link to where you studied the track?
Also, Who is going to sign up on the wait list for premium seating?

Thumbs up F1 seating speculation...

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/bmw-r...-americas.html

Here's where I made a few deductions... The email sent out today does not seem to be ticket sales, rather a huge expense to buy a " license" to have first crack at season ticket reservations for grandstand seating... The maps refer to areas called "Naturalstands" which I interpret to be General Admission grassy hillsides. So, if this proves to be true; I intend to buy tickets that will allow me to wander between turns 1-3 for what I perceive to be the best view of almost half the track from the high ground...

Now, who's driving vs. flying in? Northwest attendees?
