Yet another frustrating dealer experience. DiFeo BMW of Tenafly this time..

Posted this on M3post, but just wanted to warn other fellow car enthusiasts about DiFeo BMW.

Both DiFeo BMW dealer and I agreed on trade in value for $53k for 08 Exige S240 and 1500 over invoice for E92 M3. Signed the paper and put $500 deposit.
After over a month wait and all the anticipation, 09 M3 arrived the dealer two days ago and went to the dealer today to pick it up.... only to find...

that dealer would not give me $53k for my trade in value we AGREED on little over a month ago.
Yeah who does not know about current economy, but the dealer breaking the deal that was agreed, signed, deposited on ... never heard of such thing.

I had to put everything back to stock for the Exige, even had to go to Lotus dealer to buy some stock parts out. Changed my insurance over to M3, etc... received full insurance packet for M3 yesterday...
sigh...

Called BMWNA, but as usual, they are of no help.
Salesman told me to talk to Executive manager tomorrow, but don't think anything will happend.
Better Bussiness Bureau?... hah.

I'm just furious at them breaking the news to me when I went to pick up the car and how they treated me.
I'm disgusted at their business practice.
I'm so pissed off that I would never think about buying BMW ever again in my life.

So all in all... SHAME ON YOU DIFEO BMW OF TENAFLY, NJ.

Stay away from DiFeo BMW guys/girls.

Thanks stinks. Sorry to hear. I saw your car at that last exotics run that started in Edgewater Starbucks, and it looked great. IMO, it looks more unique than an M3 anyway, so I'd just keep your car and forget about it. These dealers are all about numbers...if the deal is no longer beneficial to them, they'll walk, and they'll leave you holding the bag, so no surprise really. Just don't ever do any business with them again.

If you're really set on the M3, buy it from another dealer and then drive it to DiFeo with a bunch of your other car buddies with megabuck cars, show off your new ride with a grin, and say out loudly in the showroom in front of everyone that "since you guys backed out of the contract YOU signed and agreed upon, and left me hanging, I just turned around and bought it from a dealer that knows how to treat their customers right!"...Then walk out smiling.

Sorry to hear about your experience at DiFeo. I'm in the market for a new M6 and will keep your situation in mind. My philosophy has always been to deal with the people who have the product and want my business. If DiFeo gives me the best deal then I will buy from them but because of your story, they will need to beat every other deal (same car and cheaper by more than a few hundred bucks) and I will not give them the benefit of the doubt. Given that the economy has gotten worse for everyone in the past month (which is why DiFeo backed out of the deal), I assume that you can get a better deal on the M3 through another dealer... a minor consulation, I know!!!

In my opinion, Difeo went downhill after their change of ownership a few years ago. I leased a couple of 5 Series from them in the past and nobody could beat their pricing at the time. On my last lease with them, I went to take delivery of the car and there several issues with the car as it wasn't prepped properly. I made the sales manager give me his car to use while my new car was in the shop being properly prepped for delivery. No biggie, but when I dropped off the car at the end of the lease in excellent condition, I got a call from BMW Fin'l a few weeks later stating that I owed money for body damage. After receiving pictures of the damage from them, it was apparent that one of the employees backed into the car while it was in the storage lot and tried to stick me with the bill...After I faxed over the end of lease inspection sheet to BMW Fin'l stating that the car was in perfect condition, they removed the charge...I was just surprised that Difeo tried passing along those charges to me, when they were the ones that actually performed the end of lease inspection...

Thank you all,
I've been busy and haven't really followed after posting here.
But a good news! I found a buyer who's willing to do much better than dealers and car will be gone in few weeks... a deal that I can't resist...
Thought about keeping the car, but just not the right car for me at the moment. i can see buying Lotus again in the future though... yes it is that much fun driving one.
test drove c2s and cayman the other day and i might become a pcar owner soon! earlier than i planned on porsche and not the pcar level I wanted (was GT3), but after driving cayman s, it changed 180o.
Now, I have to decide between c2s or cayman s, but i think what i want already.
However, I still have time for 09 to come out and with the new 370z and z4 coming out... it might change again...

by the way... DiFeo still haven't returned my deposit and when I called, they asked if still I want the M3.. WTF! my answer of course was... F off...
Still can't believe what they think/treat of their customers... my experience totally shows that DiFeo views their customers only as a money bag.
Hopefully they realize that they already lost few sales, my mother's and two of my friends who were also shopping for m3 and 335xi...

Have you considered picking up a used car?

The prices are dropping like rocks on some models and you can pick up some great deals.

Not all BMW dealers stink...however Defeo does stink if they did that to you......go to Greenwich BMW or BMW of Darien....

but you cant really deny this economy....one month is a good enough time frame for them to back stab you...but its not acceptable

Thanks all,
Sold my car for way more than what I got from DiFeo at first time.
Already put a deposit on my next car and it is not BMW... or never will be.
