A friend of mine is looking to acquire one from US in two weeks or so. He found some nice cars under 25,000 with decent miles. Any thoughts about them ? Most of the cars are XJ8 Vanden Plas (pretty nice edition with lots of gadgets).

Anyone driving a XJ as a daily driver ? I've read some reviews on edmunds.com from some owners and the car has some positive reviews. He's interested in the engine/gearbox reliability mostly.

 

Wife uses a 2004 XJR as a daily driver. Four years and nothing but routine maintenance. She loves the car so much that we are looking for a new car and she wants another Jag. Possibly the Super V8 or Portfolio.

 

used a xjr for my rain/snow daily driver.

never had any problems with it.

 

I owned a limited edition 2002 XJR100 from 2002 until 2004. It was a great car, very comfortable on long drives, and only needed routine maintenence. Nonetheless, even a small repair could cost you big money.

Therefore a used one, with an extended warranty, would be a good buy as a daily driver.
