Porsche cranks out 10,000th Panamera after just three months on sale

Huge customer interest for the fourth Porsche model series, 10,000th Panamera leaves the Leipzig plant

Porsche announced today that after just three months of going on sale, the Stuttgart automaker has produced the 10,000 unit of its new Panamera sedan at its Leipzig plant. The 10,000 Panamera was a 500-hp Turbo model and will be delivered to a customer in Singapore.
“Sales of the Panamera have really taken off: we have already secured over 9,000 orders,” said Michael Macht, Chairman of the Board of Porsche AG. “Shortly after it was launched our Gran Turismo won the coveted “Goldenes Lenkrad” [“Golden steering wheel”] and “Auto Trophy” awards in Germany. It has also won many international prizes.”
The Panamera 4S is proving particularly popular and has a share of 44 percent – putting it ahead of the Panamera Turbo (36 percent) and the Panamera S (20 percent).
Porsche says it plans to build 20,000 Panamera units per year across the whole product cycle.
The fourth Porsche model series is being manufactured at the Leipzig plant in the so-called model mix, sharing a production line with the Cayenne SUV. The innovative, highly streamlined production is seen as a model of technological and economic excellence for the automobile industry worldwide.

Appears to be a rather nice looking elf polishing the passenger side of that 10,000th Panamera.

well that means it should be lowering the price, by creating more numbers....i think its watering down the actually name. Before you would say Porsche and that meant you are in a different league, now you have all different types of models, it like saying you have a bmw, or benz, you now have to ask what model. I personally think too many models in the line up... my personal opinion.

I disagree

for one a Porsche isn't a Ferrari, nor in the same league, usually referenced as the poor mans Ferrari.

two, you have loyalist of Porsche that a.) think like you do and b.) want a sports car, SUV for the family, and now the ability to have a 4 door vehicle in their garage by one manu; where they would usually go to Mercedes, Audi, and a few that should be ashamed of themselves with the BMW line

there is way too many variables, and from a marketing view, it was something that needed to be done, or to redesign all the sports cars to make them more pleasing and fast, cut back production by 1/2 and raise the price by $100k

So there you have it in a nut shell

and if I was to buy a Porsche it would be the SUV or Panamera (ruled out with 5 kids, a wife, and an ex-wife)

If I were to buy a sports car, and had the spare change (give all to ex wife) I would consider the Porsche line, along with the Ferrari, Audi, Lambo, and MB line.
