I know that we are in the middle of summer right now but I cant help thinking when its going to be snow covered outside and it will be a white christmas.....anyone know what kind of wheels and tires package we can get for the turbo?

I am curious and as always would like to better prepared before everything sells out of tirerack

 

most Porsche dealers will make some 18" OEM wheels and tires package when it gets closer to winter.

or you can get some takeoff wheels from ebay and buy snow tires separately.

 

I agree - I currently have 20s on my PT. Not really willing to put 18" snows...will look like baby wheels wondering what tire sizes to go with....

Call me before the middle of October and we won't run out on you! I ran a quick quote for the 19" Sport Edition Cup 4 and Michelin Pilot Alpin PA3 and am coming in just over $2100. Not bad.....

 

Thanks damon, will the 19" sport editions clear the P/ Turbo brakes? if so I will be interested....I like the sottozeros a lot more than the Alpins ( i have used PA2 s on my M5)...not very happy with them....dont know if PA3s are a lot better...

 

You might want to consider going with All-Seasons. Car and Driver put out a test last year and what you don't know about Snow/ice tires is you lose alot of "Stopping Distance" on dry/cold roads. So unless you are on Snow/ice 100% of the time which is not the case for most in this world, you might want to consider All-seasons.

With all due respect, that is wrong. Your statement is what everyone believes. Winter tires are best for snow/ice covered roads only, not dry cold roads.

With winter tires you are compromising cold dry stopping power.

The whole tire game is about compromising, but winter tires compromise themselves when there is not snow or ice on the road and it is still winter!!

 

I did the all season tire this past winter...never again!!! Getting dedicated winter tires this November. Last winter was a beast and the all seasons were decent until January came. To each his own but here in Pennsylvania I just can't take chances with a $150K+ daily driver. For peace of mind I'm getting the 20" Pirelli Winter 240's. Just have to brake way sooner on the PCCB's

 

I agree with you! All seasons are really not good when there is snow and sleet on the streets and with huge budget deficits I have recently noticed that the celan up time after a snow strorm has increased many fold....and I have honestly not felt too bad with braking with snow tires on...it didnt feel any different from regular driving...when there is no snow on the road
