P4S gone - now what do I get? Quality question for Turbo owners
It's frustrating. Having owned other cars in the $100k+ range and having had ZERO issue's this blows! It's my DD, I'll let you know what the dealership say's after I drop it off on Monday.
Agreed - my S63, CL63 and S55 prior to this all were bullet proof - zero days out of service beside normal service. I am so close to pulling trigger on PTT but the damn reliability kills me. My last gremlin was the ignition key randomly being accepted in switch - talk about being helpless when your key won't start the damn car.
Thanks.

My solution to the key issue is to keep an extra mercedes key (current model) in my glove box and that thing fits perfectly in the ignition and will rotate it and then when you rotate back counter clockwise and remove it the problem is temporarily fixed and the porsche key will then fit in. The mercedes key is about 2/3 the width of the porsche key and it will fit in the ignition when the porsche key won't fit. That is the easiest solution I guess.
Well I gotta say. Haven't driven a Panamera. However have owned a 997.2S and now am in a C63 AMG.
You can't beat a Pcar in terms of "sporty feel" while driving... especially the TT Panamera ( I have to imagine ) considering the specs and reviews.
HOWEVER the AMG's keep getting better and better in terms of legitimately competing with the P-cars and BMW's... especially if you can wait for the new CLS model, & the AMG version will be ridiculous....
As a C63 AMG owner who just sold my 911 because I needed a sedan, I didn't even consider the Panamera, because as much as I am a car guy, a big part of my car appreciation is the art / beauty aspect, and whether you're talking the AMG version or not, the CLS (both outgoing design and incoming design) is going to be the best looking of any lineup of sports sedans... it's the prettiest sedan on the road. The Panamera, while it has its fans I'm sure, is not going to win any beauty contests either! That's the porsche way though...

2) You drive an "entry level" AMG
Am I missing something?
LOL, struck a nerve, did I? What does my driving the "entry level" have to do with anything?
Ha I love p-cars as much as anyone, and it's all subjective, but the Panamera is butt ugly and the CLS (either old or new one) is a work of art. Feel free to disagree and pls, imply that I am poor again :-)

Wasn't implying anything about your economic situation. Sorry if it cam across that way. I was just stating the facts, again:
1) You have NEVER driven a Panny, fact
2) You drive a AMG with a base price of $60k, fact
3) The question was presented to those of us who own a 970TT, fact
You could have at least test driven the thing before making your statement.
This forum is about car's and car's only. I really wasn't trying to imply anything about your finances since you took it that way, I apologize.

Fair enough and thanks for the clarification. You are right I haven't driven a Panamera TT and many of the other super sedan alternatives.
I wouldn't assume the OP cares all that much about my opinion and in the Panemera forum I should show respect ;-) .... I was just putting in my single vote that I think the CLS is the better looking car. Obv a Pcar will almost always be a better "sports car" than alternatives, so I guess it depends what factor the OP weights the most, as well as their subjective opinion of the two cars' looks, if they care about looks at all. I guess I would assume, anyone considering a CLS, DOES care about looks. Otherwise it'd be like saying you're in love with Jessica Alba but not admitting it has anything to do with her physical appearance... yes I am equating the CLS as the Jessica Alba of sedans.
Meanwhile I didn't see in the OP's thread starter post, where he asked specifically only for replies from Panamera owners. If I missed that somewhere in the thread, apologies. BTW, if you see a 6spd'er who drives a Miata weigh in on this thread, it'd be impolite to counter their opinion with something like "the car that you drive is worth $5,000... fact"
BTW, related questions, ophtho (these aren't meant as trolls, I promise):
1. Did you weight looks much or at all when choosing your PannyTT?
2. Do you rank any other sedans in its class as better looking? (e.g. Rapide, S class AMG or CLS AMG, or w/e you consider to be the alternatives)
... honestly am curious... I totally admit that beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
EDIT: ok i do now see in the thread title (though not post text) where OP is asking for opinions from Turbo owners.... my bad!

I have a 2011 Panamera Turbo and I find it to be by far the best luxury/sport sedan I have ever owned. For 2 years I had a Bentley Continental Flying Spur (which was a great car, just not sporty by any means), and this car smokes it in every way. Interior is as nice and performance is by far much better. I also find it has a sense of occasion when I or passengers are in it, something I never really experienced when I had an S-Class a few years ago. We also have a 2011 Cayenne Turbo and a 2011 Carrera GTS manual transmission for fun, but if I had to choose just one car to have, it would be the PTT. We have had zero problems with it in the three months since I got it, and will let you know if we do (hoping not).
One feature coming on the 2012 Panameras that I do like in our 2011 Cayenne Turbo is the lane change assist on the side mirrors...nice feature that I would have ordered if it had been available.
We also test drove the Quattroporte GTS when looking and while it makes a great sound and is pretty, the electronics seem dated and the interior not as nice or roomy.
Did you end up making a decision on what to get?

I never had a problem with the looks of the car. I liked it from the beginning it didn't have to grow on me. One thing I've come to realize is this in regards to the looks. If your a 911 owner or just a Porsche enthusiast you will find the car to be ugly, point blank, period.
If you've never owned the brand you find the car to something exotic. I always get "I didn't know they made a 4-door", "It looks like the Bat-mobile", "It looks like it's going 100 mph standing still". Somebody is always taking a pic of it.
I wanted a Rapide so badly BUT I couldn't get over the small back seats AND I couldn't justify the price. I took one out for a weekend and it didn't wow me. The looks are drop dead gorgeous!!! I've had the big boy MB, Bimmer and Lex so I knew I wasn't going back to them. It came down to the Aston and the Panny...

I think there might be some legs to this theory. If it the Panamera was unbadged and I didn't know the brand, I might like how it looks. You're right I am always trying to reconcile how it looks, to how my 997.2 looked, and it always gave me an awkward sense.
In regards to the Aston Martin Rapide (heck every AM in the lineup) , absolutely you pay a huge premium over what the performance / horsepower / whatnot would justify... must be like dating a supermodel, one must ask oneself, is the visual and sensual payoff worth all the trouble & extra costs? A personal decision, when I had the 997.2 I always felt like choosing a 911 over a Vantage was a no-brainer based on performance, but now that my 997.2 is gone, I can't help but think "one day"... if price to performance ratio was all we cared about, we'd all be driving GT-R's right?...
