lost my dash lock key.
You should have a valet key housed inside the main key. Look on the "back" side of your main key and you should see a little nubbed slider bar (on the end of the key with the eyelet). Slide that nubbed bar to the right and push outward (toward the eyelet) and voila!

just wondering what became of the lost key?
I had lost it before, made a post but no one replied...then I found it later on. Now I just lost it again. The lock does not hold the key in very well.
did parts get ever back to you? and how much were they charging?
thanks

Thanks for this useful post. When my car arrives, I now know how to lock the glovebox, and give a key that doesn't unlock it to the valet. This is an interesting new approach to the issue. My Lexus and BMW came with a special key that will (un)lock and start the car for the valet, but doesn't open the glove box (or the trunk on the Lexus). The main key you usually use will do it all (and can also be used to disable the interior trunk release on the Lexus). But that valet key has no remote, so the valet has to either leave the car unlocked, or I am counting on his aim as he puts the key in the door not to scratch the door around it. I like this new idea of a separate key for the glove box so the valet can use the remote, even if that doesn't secure the hatch area.
