Buy 2010 or lease 2011

Hi guys,

What would you do? I found a 2010 4s demo car with 5k miles. Carbon Grey/beige, 20 RS, Full leather, Sport chrono, Adaptive seat, Air suspension with PDCC, Sport exhaust. Quote was 23% off MSRP

The other option is a 2011 4s brand new, blk/blk, Sport design body kit, 20 turbo 2's, carbon interior, sport chrono, premium plus 2 package. Quote was 8.7% off MSRP.

With the same amount of money at inception, the monthly payments are the same. 60 months finance and 36 month lease with 10k miles.

I am a business owner, drive about 8k a year. The colors on both cars are not my ideal, but liveable. I will likely to get a new car in 3 years.

Finally, did the pdk lights above the steering wheel only came after 2011? is it retrofittable?

Thanks in advance!

Lease the 2011 4S for the max tax benefit, if you buy a used 2010 P4S there is no business write off.

not true, there is still a tax benefit if you own the car. just different tax deductions.

yes but it has to be new car then u can write off depreciation spread out in 5 years, if you buy an "used" car, from my knowledge, business cannot write it off.... well im not an accountnat, i think you should double ck with ur CPA to be safe.

Those carbon/beige demos were all driven insanely hard. I would avoid it at all costs. They have great options but were all flogged to death. The dealer would be giving themselves high-5's if you took that 2 year old demo off their hands. And...buying a 2 year old car with kill you on resale in three years as it will be 5 years old.

You can easily get around 15% off sticker now on 2011's with the 2012's out with the Porsche holdback money available. Go with the 2011

wow, perhaps i'm in a different market. Here dealers wont negotiate on the carbon grey demo at all. And they offered me 2 -4 percent off on the 2011 4S's because the inventory on those cars are very low. The deal i found on the 2011 4S is from further south... And bigger dealers wont even entertained the idea of selling a 2011 for more than 4 percent off. Perhaps the 15% off you are talking about the turbos...

Ok, no demo. now i'm down to 2 cars

P4S BLK/BLK sport design bodykit, turbo 2, carbon fiber trim +steering wheel, vent seats front and back, keyless go, premium plus.

P4S White/BLK painted air intake grill, headlight washer, blk headlight(!), turbo 2, carbon fiber trim +steering wheel, vent seats front, keyless go, premium plus.

Both interesting cars with unique looks! which one??

Are you saying the demo is being sold as a new vehicle with full warranty and leasing for the same as a 2011? If so, I discount the recommendations to avoid it because in the 24,000 miles you'll put on in three years, I doubt you'll have a problem. This idea of improper break in and frequent launches is overrated. These cars are not being flogged on the track and the dealer should have maintained it properly. If it is being sold as a used car, I'd avoid it too.

Regarding purchase vs lease, leasing provides more benefit for the business owner. If you want to own it after the lease, increasing the lease payment to buy down the residual may make sense, as would buying the car up front and depreciating it on the business. If you plan on owning it, I would get a 2012 model which should be arriving shortly and will cost only 2-3% more than a 2011.

The demo is sold as new but only carry remaining of the warranty (does that make sense?) they said the lease is not favorable.

I bought a demmo back in december...carbon gray lux interior...price was over 120,000k included matching luggage...I got it for 95,000....car runs great with no problems....demos get a 12 month Porsche appoved limited warranty extension, over and above the unexpired portion of its new vehicle limited warranty.

The great thing about demos, they come with options you would never order and you basically get them for free with the huge discount!
