XM Satellite Issues

A couple of months ago there was a short thread about XM reception issues, but I have not seen much since then..

I have a recurring problem with my XM signal being dropped.. This has happened 8-10 times over the past four months.. Each time I suddenly lose the XM channel line up and I must call XM for a reactivation. They now insist that this is a radio or receiving issue with my car or radio... My dealer has not had any other issues like this... Just curious if others have experienced this type of issue,

My XM would periodically "go away" for hours, days or even weeks. The dealer couldn't fix it but it would come back on its own. Since they didn't stock the PCM, they had to order it. By the time it came in the XM would be back on again.

Interestingly, I could see the song and station being displayed visually, but there was no sound.

It finally quit altogether and the dealer replaced the entire PCM unit. No problem since then.

The only way to live with it while it was acting up was FM, Ipod, Auxiliary and CD changer. It's not like there was no music.

In my old 4S - I went through 5 PCM's with "disappearing" issues - sometimes the phone would go missing other times the Sat radio. ultimately it appears that the issue was incomplete feature codes being stored in the pcm. It seems that if the options on the car don't match the options in the PCM memory it is like releasing a Tasmanian Devil into the PCM electronics.

Try having your dealer verify all your options in your PCM. If there are any questions have them call the service guys at Porsche of Farmington Hills in Michigan - they are pros at this and verify it now a few times on every car delivered.
