Need advice! Nails on tire, plug or change?

Hi guys, i have a big nail on my P zero 295/20/35 on the right side back tire of my panny. I notice a noise coming from the back end of the car during slow drive but couldnt find the source. I kept going and at one point was doing 130mph. When i reach home, i did a check again and discover the nail....amazingly the tire is still ok w the nail, it has not gotten flat yet. Pheeewwww....was i lucky or what. Need your advice

1) can it be fix? If yes ,will it effect the performance and safety? I ocationally drive at 130mph . Is it dangerous to use the fixed tire at that speed?

2) if i change the right side tire ( the one w the nail),the left side good tire is only 80%. will the performance or ride comfort be effected?

Any advice will be very helpful.. Thks in advance.

Replace tire - patching is not a viable option for 130 mph.

How close to the sidewall is the nail? If it's at least 1.5-2" away from the wall, it should be fine. But that assumes you went with the simple push in and pull out plug and not the more advanced (i.e. IMHO crappy) plugs with the big plastic inserts a lot of places do today.

If the belts aren't weakened, then the tire just needs to hold air. When they do the more advanced patches, they widen the hole and damage the ply way too much, which significantly weakens the tire.

They told me once here that if the plug holds, it will be as strong as new. I wanted to buy a new one, but they said dont bother. I told them that my car does 300km/h and they still didnt sell me a new tire, so I think youre fine with the vulcanized rubber plug, but I would let a professional do it.

Dont wait too long, the nail holds a while, but then starts leaking...

honestly, the nail might not have gone all the way through. If it would have the tire would have started leaking right away. I suggest you take it to a tire shop, get the nail removed and then see if you need to patch it. You might not even need to patch it...

I remember signing something when purchasing my Porsche that plugging the tire was not an option. I can't remember what the penalty was.. possible warranty.

Okay, don't mean to sound like a tool, but for someone who has the means to afford a PTT, and someone who has the opportunity to drive 130mph, why are you even debating this? Do you really want to be driving 130mph and wondering if the plug is going to hold?

And as long as I'm on my high horse ... if you hear something that doesn't sound right with your tire, the engine or anything else, you might want to get it checked BEFORE driving 130mph. A blowout at that speed would be less than stellar.
