Oil consumption
My parents just bought a 2012 Panamera 4. The dealer told them they could expect high oil con summation. Could this be true? Drive an 08 4S and it sounds weird to me. Thanks for the help.

My PTT burns about the same. Kinda surprised me at first too, but very normal I've come to find

I bought one of those leather porsche oil bags from suncaost and I just keep a quart in my trunk . The link is below. For 10 bucks it's hard to go wrong.

I was told by my service mgr that this should get better after 10K miles... At least the dealer is on my way to work... I drop in for a fill up and they give me an extra quart to keep in the car..

How do you drive the car? Could be a problem with driving it too easy.
The 2000 M5's had a big problem with oil consumption, but there were reports that 2nd or 3rd owners had bought them and drove them hard and observed lowered oil consumption thought to be from better ring seating, which never happened from the prior owners driving it too easy.

If your car isn't broken in right, then you will have much higher oil consumption. Break-in should ideally happen in just a few long drives, with varying speeds, rpm's, gears and and throttle positions. You don't want to go much over 4,500 rpm, or full throttle. After 2,000 miles, you need to change the oil. Then you're all set.
The worst break-in is if you keep the car at the same speed/rpm for a long time. Also very bad is if you drive very short distances with lots of 'cold' starts. Either way your engine is getting most of its break-in wear from just one type of run condition, and that's bad.
