I had a Benz once and was extremely frustrated by the numerous trips to the shop. I vowed to never own another and even swore off any German brand.
I went to Lexus and have been with them over 10 years. I am extremely pleased with Lexus reliability and consider the brand one of the best bang for the buck buys on the planet across all products and brands. You get a lot of car for the price.
BUT, I long for a performer...something where the driving experience is pure pleasure. I have my 2 Lexus cars lowered with wheels and it's closer to the type of drive I like but let's face it, I want more.
I tried a G35 a few years ago because it was Japanese reliability with a sport-oriented drive. It was alright (I drove the G35 a lot more than the Lexus), very reliable but not pure pleasure.

I am willing to give up some reliability to enjoy every second behind the wheel. When I save up enough to buy a 991 Turbo outright, I will head straight to the dealership. If I'm ready before the turbo comes out, I'll buy the best 991 available and mod it.
It won't be a daily, there will always be a couple Lexus in my driveway...so I can handle the ocassional trips to the dealer. I think.

What I'm trying to say is I don't believe people buy a Porsche for reliability. These rankings mean nothing. The reliability factor means even less. Have fun and drive.
