Porsche 0-60 times conservative?

I was told by a salesman that the official Porsche 0-60 times were very conservative. Is this true or just some salesman B.S.?

It's called under-promise and over-deliver... they've been like that for 60 years....

P.S. Ferrari is quite the opposite

Very true. Car & Driver regularly tests P-Cars at faster speeds than what Porsche quotes.

Most U.S. car magazines also use a 1 foot roll-out (simulate the timing lights of a drag strip) in coming up with acceleration figures (they also weather correct the data). I think some manufacturers don't use that roll-out in arriving at their claimed acceleration figures and may also have a standard procedure as far as # of occupants...standard cargo load...and filling thegas tank to a certain level.

Porsche has been known to be extemely conservative in their claimed acceleration #'s and that might be a function of them loading up the car with maximum occupants and weight and not doing anything for roll-out. Porsche owners (or any performance car owner) would likely never data log their car's acceleration figures fully laden.

This is good to know!!!! I'm a big fan of "UPOD", whether in stocks, cars, or employees.

Porsche tests with the EU regulations, driver and gas. C&D is "tweaking" the times.

I wasn't aware of that initially ... so I had to do some research before realizing the true acceleration potential of even just a base carerra coupe
