Question iPOD connected to PCM but only USB source (not iPOD) shows in PCM????

All -

I have a 2010P4S. I connected my iPOD Nano (latest firmware) with the standard Apple iPOD USB connector. When I push DISC or Source only the USB source shows (NOT iPOD.)

How do I get the iPOD source to show up? My car did not come w/the Y-cable connector for iPOD?

Thanks.

Try to switch on the iPod and then plug it in. Mine, also an nano, does show on the PCM as iPod.

I believe this issue was discussed before. 2010 Panameras need the special Porsche cable which is a Y-cable and it's black as opposed to the apple one. Y-cable separates the audio from data, so if you only use the apple cable, it will most likely show the songs but u won't get sound. 2011 and up are OK with apple cable alone.

Sinan - different issue. (1) The songs play and sound fine, (2) However, the device shows as a USB devices not a iPOD, (3) I can not see/access any eBooks. I am running PCM v1.3.1 and latest iPOD Nano firmware.

Any idea where the Y-cable is located can be found? Nothing in glove compartment.

I have never heard of that issue. Sorry, it's your bad luck I would suggest you "hard reset" the ipod by pressing MENU and PLAY at the same time for 10 seconds. (U might wanna double check how to do it online, I might be wrong about the 2 buttons).

Y-cable plugs into USB and 3.5mm audio jack in the arm rest. Mine was sitting there when I took the delivery of my car. You should check with the dealer. It was free with the car (if it has iPod option), if not probably around $30 at the parts.
