Sorry to continue an old thread but is there a tsb or recall number I can reference for this issue? I have a 2011 TTS with this obvious issue.

TheBruce is infamous around these parts
Hi guys - reviving this thread as it was one of the few that confirmed the same noise I was having on my 2006 997. It was a 12 month mystery which I first thought was a bad compressor clutch bearing, or clutch plate, compressor, or belt tensioner. It wasn't. I replaced the first two and the noise continued.

Turns out its much simpler. My system was just low on refrigerant and for some reason this was causing something in AC system to resonate right after the condenser fans would spin up. The expansion valve is right behind the glove box so it might be coming from there.

My system was still in spec on refrigerant but on the low end. I put half a can of R134a in and I've been noise free since. I posted more details on Rennlist in the 997 forum.

Ps - Oh and Panameras aren't really Porsches. Sorry, couldn't resist :-)
