Then again it also hung with a MB S65, with 720 bhp...

It kind of makes sense. The PTT gets off the line the quickest because of its LC and awd, but the other cars soon catch up. I think the Jag catches up because its much lighter with its aluminum frame, just a guess. Not sure of the actual weights of these cars. Certainly peaks my interest in the Jag, considering they cost so little in comparison. But does it at least come with a short wheel base in super sport instead of just L wheel base.

Question

Weight is around the same for both cars, so I doubt that it has anything to do.
The panny was riding on 22's so that has a bit to do, and didnt the bodykit from a known manufacturer reduced the top end in couple tests from previous posts, I forget.

According to C&D these are the numbers:

Panny 0-130mph 15.0 0-150 21.4 1/4 mile 11.9@117
Jag 0-130mph 16.2 0-150 23.8 1/4 mile 12.4@115

This is a perfect example of how to ruin a perfectly good car with a lot of money. I also was under the impression that the jag should not keep up, even at higher speeds, confirmed by the Pannys better 130-150 mph time of c and d.

I had no idea that sports cars should be measured by how fast they can go straight.

nova while there is a lot of room to argue your statement (98% of my list of goodies for my next car is straight line performance, I wished I had time to track the car more than twice a year) most of the benchmarks anywhere from mags to internet based reviews, ARE based on straight line.

Plus these are 2 tons vehicles, with at least a baby car seat in the back, not track oriented sports cars.

Hot "light" hatches perform very well in the twisties, but wouldnt say they are sportcars. SO yes, straight line performeance is also an important factor in a sportscar,

Im pretty sure the first thing on this Porsche club presidents mind was not: Well my car is a sportscar, because its faster in the corners (nor did the Audi DIESEL!!! driver think his car is a sportscar because it was faster in a straight line), its a sum of thing to be called a sportscar...
