Navigation Annoyance

Coming from BMWs iDrive, I find that searching for POIs on my 2013 Panamera Turbo is really frustrating. If I want to search for a restaurant, I have to select restaurants first and it has to close enough by, otherwise it doesn't find it. Why can't I just freely search for anything using the POI option and it will find it? How can I save locations (such as Dallas, Plano, etc) and use them as targets? Why do I have to say restaurants before it will find the place (versus searching all)? I was so used to BMWs iDrive as well as the Send to Car feature from Google Maps. I miss them both as I am still relatively new to Dallas so I use the map frequently.

Any tips/help?

I've been trying to figure out the NAV for 2 years now even though I'm very very good with electronics/computers. I mostly use iPhone now. The trick is to click the box where it says "Free Location Input". Once you put a city in there, POI will now search for a for e.g. restaurant near that city. However sometimes it still cannot find it even though it's in the POIs. I tried searching by phone number. That is the same story.

And when it asks you to select a category u can choose ALL CATEGORIES, and then just type the name of the place whether it's a restaurant or hotel, etc. But I find the search very weak. I mostly search for address on google and just type that

POIs in the Porsche NAV is the worst ever. It's database is so small. I could only find a location out of the 10 i input on different occassion even with free location input.

Manually inputing address is your best bet here.

AND don't spend money on updating the NAV disc just for POI's. Doesn't make a difference as far as I can tell. I made the mistake of updating.
