question on sport plus (for turbo)

Hey guys! i have a question regarding the sport plus button, i've just realized that my boost goes only to 0.6 WITHOUT the sport plus button, and i thought that with sport plus it was just the throttle response that changes, but apparently i was trying it late at night and to my surprise with sport plus the boost meter went to around 0.7-1.0. Does sport plus affect the speed much? i dragged a gtr without sport plus and loss

Sport Plus affects more than just throttle response.

- The engine management system adapts the engine for a sharper response.
- The rev limiter is adjusted to a harder setting.
- The shift times are shorter, the gear changes sportier.
- Launch control.
- The trigger threshold for PSM is raised for increased longitudinal and lateral dynamics.

Brian, the sport plus allows you to bump up to 1.0 under certain curcunstances for around 15 seconds.

On top of all the other features this is the one that would've made a difference.

The GTR is a beast and if it was one of the new 540bhp you had not a chance.

From a dig they are as fast/faster than the Turbo.

Now if it was a 09-11 then you had much greater chances, stock for stock.

You are right, and gt-rs are often tuned.

Sport+ is the only way to go from dig, otherwise no chance. Sport+ also selects first gear from dig and best available gear when rolling. It also lowers the car 2.5cm. If you werent in sport+, you started in 2nd gear very probably. Both of these cars are so fast, that if you hesitate for a 1/4 second, the other car is gone. Seems you have sport chrono, if you mash the throttle, the car goes into overboost for 10s and you get 770nm of torque instead of 770nm. You know you are in overboost, when the psi/bar gauge turns orange and gets and arrow.

Racing a GT-R is just a waste of fuel in my opinion...there's a good reason why that car is universally known as "Godzilla".

This is not entirely true (regarding the older 480bhp version and maybe the 530bhp versions):

Check out 16:05

vs:

PTTS spanks even more surprising cars 3:50 mins:

The 550 bhp version is a different story, even the PTTS wont touch it (assuming reactiontimes are similar). At higher speeds its even less of a match.

Hi Tom,

I ordered a GTS but also ended up with a PTT. My dealer gave me 4S over the weekend and I was surprised how much "slower" it was than my E60 M5. Nicer in all other ways. The GTS is nicer and a little faster than the 4S but I was like, can I really give up 70 hp +??? They said take a Turbo next weekend, which I did. I new right away that I had to have the Turbo over the GTS.

The GTS came in first and I drove it 1 day (about 50 miles) and liked it very much, especially the red stitching in the interior. It was a $142k build to my spec. I then took a 2010 used Turbo they had around the block a few times and just could not give up 150 fl.lbs. of torque to have the first GTS, in spite of its many nice qualities.

Brian - sorry to hi-jack your thread - I found on my PTT that boost runs .6 - 1.0 on full acceleration in Sport Plus (took out last night to see). I plan to add GIAC tune and IPD plennum shortly and will be interested to see the difference. I have been in a buddy's PTT with GIAC and Akropivic Exhaust and it was quite impressive. You might want to think about these type of upgrades if you are going to play with GTR's!

I paid more for my Turbo ordred to my spec ($175k build), but I have no regrets! I love the fact that the Turbo is quiet and luxurious when I want that and then is an animal when I want that. My wife hates noise so I have stayed away from the exhaust. I love the Turbo and think it is the ultimate Panamera (well except for the Turbo S of course)!

You will love the car!

+1 congrats!

my PTTS arrives next month. I promised myself I would only flash the ecu and replace the 700 cell cats with 200 cell ones and remove the resonator.
that hopefully will do it for the HP fix, hopefully pics soon!

as for interior cant beat the GTS, so went with red gauges and seat belts and full carbon fiber interior, that is about as good as it will get!
