2014/15 Panamera GTS back seat major concern!

Hi all,

I’m new to this forum and to Porsche as well. I’m on the vergeof pulling the trigger and order a 2014/5 Panamera GTS. Below is my build (hope you guyslike it):

· Panamera GTS
· Premium Package Plus
· Dark Blue Metallic/ Leather Interior in Marsala
· Deletion of Model Designation on Side Doors
· Rear Wiper
· LED Headlights in Black incl. Porsche Dynamic Light System Plus (PDLS Plus)
· Thermally & Noise Insulated Glass
· ParkAssist (Front and Rear) incl. Surround View
· Extended Exterior Package in Black (High-Gloss)
· Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC) incl. PTV Plus
· Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK)
· Wheels
· 20" Panamera Sport Wheels in Black (High-Gloss)
· Power Sunblind for Rear Side Windows
· Power Sunblind for Rear Compartment
· LED Extended Interior Lighting Package NOT i.c.w. Interior Lighting Package
· Soft Close Doors
· Lane Departure Warning (LDW)
· Adaptive Cruise Control incl. Porsche Active Safe (PAS)
· Adaptive Sport Seats (18-way) with Memory Package
· Interior Leather
· Extended Interior Package in Leather
· Porsche Crest on Headrests (Front and Rear)
· Interior Carbon Fiber
· Gear Selector in Carbon Fiber
· Door-Sill Guards in Carbon Fiber, Illuminated
· Audio and Communications
· Burmester® High-End Surround Sound System
· Porsche Rear Seat Entertainment (PRSE)
· Others
· Code for Side Mirror Painted in Black (Lower Trim)
· Preparation Door-Sill Guards, Illuminated
· Preparation Porsche Rear Seat Entertainment

I have one major concern and it’s really making me even hesitateto purchase the entire car, which is the fact that it can only fit two persons inthe back seat. I have three kids 8, 5 and 1 Yrs old. And my wife doesn’t even like theCayenne which seems a logical choice for this number of kids. But we both fellin love with the Panamera GTS as it’s a really unique car and has it all.
I’m now in a dilemma as I also will make this ride as dailydriver and the only family car due to high price of this vehicle which will make itimpossible for me to even think of buying another family hauler at this stage

One thing came to my mind is the possibility to modify themiddle of back seat and make it fit three persons including child seat! But notsure if this can be done or who can perfectly add a seat built and child seatbase. I'm also afraid that if mod garage is unqulaified then he will mess up a USD 150 K+ car

So I appreciate if any one suffers the same or has an ideathat makes me go to the dealer and complete the deal?

Oh! I wish Porsche will consider this and make the Panamera backseat like the Cayenne! I think they should provide this as an option like MBs-class.
Any idea will help..
Thanks in Advance..

Anything can be done but it'll cost you. I've seen it done in the CLS

If you really need that third seat, the Panamera is not the car for you. I would try try to find something that better fits your needs then wants...

Upon reflection,

In the case of the CLS, they were able to use the E class components. With the Panny you won't find other components that match. Even if you do find or customize the back seat, the car still won't be legal.

Then you need to consider that the car was designed to fit 4, the seat belt fitment might be a problem.

The Panny was only crash tested with 4 people so insurance may also be an issue.

Not something I would recomment

I didn't know it was ever crash tested. Do you have the results?

I'm pretty sure all cars on the market go through a crash test in order to ensure safe design standards in crashworthiness & nope I don't have the results.

Google can help you though...

I tried to find crash tests before getting my '13 and couldn't find any. I think they (at least the US government) don't test relatively expensive cars like this.

Google did help me though...

As is typical for many expensive luxury cars, neither the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) nor the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) have crash-tested the 2014 Porsche Panamera.

Given the Panamera's strong set of standard safety equipment, including dual front, side, knee, and side-curtain airbags, and an active pop-up hood for pedestrian protection, however, the Panamera should be confidence inspiring.

Hmm. Several options:

Consider getting a Panamera and accept it only holds 2 kids.
Consider getting a Panamera and a V6 Touareg/Cayenne/Suburban or basic family mover (3 cars?)
Consider getting a Telsa with 'trunk' seats or Mercedes AMG E-wagon.

I would look at the Mercedes AMG E-wagon

Sorry Tomeco!
We're in the same boat. I have three kids under 10. And no, there is no way to get three legal seats back that I know of. I have a PS4 and this is how it works; Me and three kids, wife and three kids, or me and wife. Can't get all 5 in. If you badly want it, consider a two year old GTS and a people hauler or a new one and a people hauler if you can wing it, if not try a Cayenne or head to some other luxury brand. keep us posted

The Panamera cars can only fit two individuals safely and comfortably in the rear. Nice build by the way!

If you have a need to continually take three people in the back of your car, just scratch the Panny off of your list. Why would you even consider trying to make a "Frankenstein" version of this car, to fit such an important need. Get something else my man.

M5 or Audi S-6,7,8 or MB E63 AMG...... All have plenty to offer and can haul 5 in a very quick way.
