Tinting over thermal glass

For those who have the thermal/noise reduction glass option on their P, did anyone go further and also tint the windows?

My car has the option but I'm finding that it's just not tinted enough. Probably overkill but curious what others have done.....

I'm assuming that outside of the scratching issues mentioned throughout here, there should be no install issues ...?

I have the thermal glass and I still did the ceramic tint on mine.

Install was no different then any other car and should be very straight forward.

Thank you both. I most likely will do this as well. Not into the fish bowl effect.

I hear ya on the fishbowl effect... I just went with 3M crystalline 70% on the windshield and 35% 3M Nano-Carbon on rear/sides. Preferred the color of the nano-carbon and also figured the crystalline would be overkill + the thermal... I'm overall happy with the results / no issues but make sure you take it to a professional that has worked on the panamera before as they will need to install the felt kit or the tint will scratch when you roll your windows down.

Ditto - especially on larger vehicles.

On the Panameras, the molding is actually made of hard plastic, which tends to a lot of scratches onto the glass. By having a felt liner applied to the plastic, it would drastically reduce the number of scratches on the tint. It may not eliminate it completely, but it will be a very noticeable difference compared to a Panamera without some type of felt liner

ok further input requested here..............

I know this is a personal pref but curious what others have done, that have not provided their setup.

Have the thermal glass so...

1) % used since there is already a slight tint? thinking no more than total % of 40, which I liked on my M5 (used Huper). Not sure what the thermal glass % is?

Colors
2) Spectra Photo - color? blueish? thoughts on this color with Basalt black? options are 45% or 55%

or

3) pinnacle 1 - color gray/smoke? (I think)

Currently leaning towards Spectra due to heat prevention and darkens/lightens according to sunlight - is this correct? most likely 45% along with (guessing) thermal glass moving the VLT down to 40% or so?

Sorry that most of this info is likely in many threads but oh well.

thoughts?

Spectra PhotoSync's color is actually quite neutral and mimics the color of OEM glass. As for the VLT changing, yes, it does so, but it's not the most unique feature of it. The technology behind Spectra PhotoSync is in its Solar Adaptive Coating in which the performance of the film is enhanced when it is exposed to solar energy. The product's performance improves by a significant margin and in this process the film does darken slightly.

The manufacturer, Prestige Film Technologies, considers this a "Seasonal Film", which in winter months, when there is not as much daylight, the film stays lighter. In summer months, when the Solar Adaptive technology kicks in, it also darkens naturally.

It is a very different technology compared to transition lenses as those are activated by UV while Spectra PhotoSync is activated by both UV and IR.

Ok, I see what you are saying. What are your thoughts on the outcome when photosync 45% is applied to OEM thermal glass? As in, will Photo45 applied to thermal glass have a look of say, 35%? ....... I'm trying to choose between 55 and 45.

Yes, it would look slightly darker on thermal glass compared to applying PhotoSync to a single pane glass.
