Ptt owner considering c4s or 911 turbo
Have a ptt. Love it. Considering a 911 too. Would a c4s be a let down or should I consider the 911 turbo?
Is the handling and performance in a c4s at par with the ptt?
Feel lucky to even consider these options. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. I know some of you have these beasts in your garage so speak up or I will start picking on you lol.
Thanks all.

I have a PTT and had a 997.1TT. Loved the 911, to death, then came the PTT which I love to death too.
The 911 WILL ALWAYS handle flatter than the PTT.
Performance wise is a draw, 1/4 mile that is, after that the 911 crawls up on the heavier car.

I have a PTT and a C4s cab. The PTT is faster accelerating but is not as much fun to though around. We love having both so we have the great ride or the great handling and fun of the C4S. I think the two are great compliments and are great to have as we desire different things at different times.
I've been through a few Porsche cars in the last 17-18 years and I think I finally achieved nirvana with a 2007 997.1TT manual, lightly modded, and a 2010 PTT. I bought the 2007TT in 2010, and five years later still thrilled every time I take it out. It never disappoints.
In 2011 I bought a new V6 Panamera because I needed a new sedan, and this seemed to be a great car, price point, and great fuel economy. I didn't think the price-value-needs ratio for a PTT at the time was worth it. Last year I found I wasn't using the V6 Panny as much so I sold it. I regretted it after I discovered that other people did not like riding in my 1997 Landcruiser as much as I did, LOL! A few weeks ago I came upon a fully optioned (and I mean every option) 2010 PTT at a great price. The PTT is incredible.
In my opinion, if you have a PTT and a non-turbo 911, you have the turbo on the wrong car. I think you might be disappointed if you don't get a 911TT.

You guys are truly appreciated. Got to research the difference between 997.1 versus 997.2 tts. And would it be worth the wait for the 997.2 to come down in price as a cpo. I imagine they would come down a significant amount if porsche released an update to 997.2 for the my2016.
More research to do. Also wonder if you know the difference in the 997.1 versus .2 tts.

The difference between original 997 Turbo and after the facelift are the cosmetic changes in the cars, transmission, hp, DFI (help guys, what else?)
Regarding your original question, I don't like Turbos, I prefer NA engines because of their power delivery and their exhaust sound, I would buy the C4S. Drive both, and if they fit your budget, decide on one. Good luck!
997 was the other car I was looking at when I was buying my Panny, from time to time I regret not getting the 997 especially when my wife drives her CaymanR.

Here is the running board discussion on 997.1 vs 997.2. My preference is 997.1 based on my own preferences. Both are fantastic in their own way.

Get the C4S equipped with MT and you'll always look forward to driving it. As much as I enjoy my P4S, getting behind the wheel of my 991C4 is like rewarding myself. Even in city traffic I love the MT in this car.
Narrowing it down to the c4s 2013. Leslie didn't they change the 2013 hind quarters from the 2012 c4s and some other changes?
The other option is the 997.2tts. Since I don't want to mod and would like to use it as a dd I think from the link thunder roll sent the 997.1 is more for a modding owner. Also the interior is different in the 997.2 vs .1? Question for thunder roll is when did they start manufacturing 997.2 tts? I am trying to juggle all these numbers.
However what may drive me would be a price point. I am leaning more towards a c4s 2013 with the pdk. I can't switch gears as fast as the pdk. Plus the most important thing is I am too damn lazy to change gears.
Thank you Leslie and Thunderroll. Truly appreciate your insight and making the process of picking one more painful

If you're asking about the difference between the 997 C4 and the 991 C4, I can only say that the rear fenders of the 991 C4 are wider than those of the 991...not sure about comparable to the 997.
The 991 is an entire redesign over the 997. I'd vote 991 personally. Longer wheelbase, wider front track, more comfortable, faster. PDK mapping also different. I'm coming from a 991 C2S to a 2014 PTT and I can tell you that when you push the PTT and drive it hard, it becomes a MADMAN. In fact that's my nickname for the car. The 991C4S will be different in terms of power delivery. If you do drive one, get it with PDK, sport exhaust, and PDCC at a minimum. Look into the power kit as well - gives you 430 hp. Unfortunately I've never driven a 911 turbo so I can't speak to it! When the 991.2 S comes out with the twin turbo in another year or two I'll have to try it out.

I can say though, I've never driven a Porsche that I didn't like in some way. Maybe a 3.8l with more torque would have been more satisfactory - I can say the engine noise of the NA engine sure was intoxicating.
After some researching, here is the opinion I have been able to form while considering c4s or turbo for a 911.
1) If its a c4s it has to be either a late 2012 or 2013 model at a minimum. The inside is quite different when they switched from 997 to 991. Gawd knows how they come up with these numbers. And they did a mid-2012 upgrade. So people who bought a 2012 in first part of the 2012 got a different car than the ones that bought it in the latter half of 2012(Pls. correct me if I am wrong). Since I have a PTT, i think the 991 c4s or c2s will not cut it for the demon in me. So this one is out.
2) Considering the 911 turbo. No point in getting the turbo, the turbo s is a better value with PDCC standard. Love the PDCC on my ptt. Also, they changed the interior of the turbo s in 2014 which is very similar to the PTT which i really like - nicely sorted out and i am used to where all the buttons and switches are. However the 2014 is dropping in price and will continue to lose value rapidly in its earlier years of existence. Even at its current price I don't want to be a bank robber.
I am out of options. So gonna go wash my PTT and thrash it. Thank you all for your advise and knowledge you have shared with me. If I could, the first round of beer would be on me. Cheers.
