2010 vs 2014 PTT - Time to Upgrade ?

Drove a 2014 PTT with 2K miles, similarly equipped as my 2010 PTT with 42K mechanically. Few differences i noted

1) 2014 seems to spool up faster on hard accelleration in comfort mode
2) 2014 a bit quieter inside
3) few ergonomic improvements, like the door lock/unlock buttons now on the door instead of in front of the shifter
4) minor back and front end changes to body
5) steering seems lighter at low speeds in the 2014

Reason i checked out the 2014 was to see if it was worth jumping into a newer car, or just stick with what i have and get an extended warranty. Mine has had issues but all covered under CPO and sorted out.

Anyone else gone down this path?

Get the extended warranty and wait to see what is around the corner. Those upgrades are minor, unless you can just light $100 bills on fire.

if you can afford it and get a good deal do it . There is nothing there better than the panamera , neither they are to serious/luxurious or sport/stiff and none of them will blend all this in one car like the panamera turbo . The new panamera facelift have some redesigned pistons and injector , in which should push more power than our old panamera.

LOL - that's funny -
However, the sport exhaust sounds a bit more raucous........

I would make the change. I had a 2010 PTT and then moved to a 2014 P4S before passing on the 2014 PTT. I felt the P4S was adequate enough in the power department but that's another story...

The 2014 has better transmission programing. You can really tell in the 2014 PTT compared to yours after a full days drive and it will be something you will appreciate. Less jerky/clunky, more rev matching and a faster turbo spool.

You also get the latest PCM too on the 14. I also noticed a decrease in wind noise all through out and I think the 2014 refresh looks so much better then the older models.

I think having the extra 3 years of warranty coming from factory and the depreciation the model has taken is well worth it. Best of luck.

All good points - i am glad you confirmed the faster spooling; seemed a good bit faster from 0-60; more than the 20 hp increase from my model year

Put it this way: I wanted a Panamera for a couple years before getting my 2014 PTT in November last year. I had test driven a 2013 GTS and a 2012 Turbo S. My observations on the 2014 were:

1. MUCH better PDK software on the 2014 compared even to the 2012 Turbo S. I had found the Turbo S kinda boring to drive- exhaust was too tame.
2. Sport exhaust much improved. I think Porsche has figured out how to make a sporty exhaust on a turbo V8.
3. With lighter wheels and summer tires the car has no business cornering like it does. It's amazing with that setup.
4. Turbos spool up almost instantly compared to past PTT's I've driven. Not sure if this is revised software or turbos, or both, along with maybe better intake hardware.

Car is great, with 4000 miles on mine I'm still getting used to it. Good luck!

I think just the PDK upgrade alone is worth the switch.. The new PDK does make driving this beast a lot more enjoyable mainly because of the throttle blip and rev matching on down shift, new sports exhaust improves this even further, so I think it is worth it. Not to mention less turbo lag. As far as looks go, I actually prefer front bumper of pre 14 PTT models, but do like rear of new 14, especially if equipped with factory smoked tail lights.

It all depends on what kind of deal you can get and if it makes sense to you.

So its time to fish or cut bait:
CPO runs out 3/16
I can get coverage for 4500 dollars, will cover next 2.5 years or 36K more miles

Looked at a few 2014 PTT, which is the refreshed and somewhat better sorted out car. But they run around 135K, and i was offered 55K for mine at the dealer

Keep in mind: new Panamera coming out 2017! New engines, lower weight, probably better suspension.

I'd wait for the redesigned Panamera... You'll find yourself in a similar situation in about a year or so..

I'm waiting for the redesigned PTT to come out. It will be a completely new shared platform.

May be better (likely) or not (less likely), but either way prices on 2014 / 15 will drop like crazy. At $55k for trade, your car has probably almost bottomed out.

I too am intrigued about the new Panny 4S/GTS/PTT. Very interested to see what they do with air suspension/engines, etc.

I hope the S Models somehow get V8's.. Granted I've never driven the V6 incarnation.. There's just something about an N/A V8 that warms my heart..
