It has now been over 6 months since I posted this and weather is starting to wamr up again and obviously my problem hasn't been resolved by Porsche. They have re-charged my compressor, but this had no effect.
I have been really studying this issue to try to narrow it down for Porsche and here is what I found:
Imagine a 70 degrees day, which is pretty nice and cool and you may not even need AC, but if it's really sunny and your dashboard gets hot you will need AC, unless you want to drive with open windows. So imagine it is 69-70 outside and my AC is on Auto at 69 degrees but car inside is pretty hot because it sat under sun for some time, so my AC is running and air that is coming out of my front vents isn't super cold, however as soon as I turn recirculation on, i notice immediately that air become much cooler. This would make sense if it was 90 degrees outside so air outside is warmer than air inside, however in this case it is 70 degrees outside and inside the car is pretty hot, at least 80, so something is definitely wrong. I have a feeling that return air that is pulling air from outside is somehow pulling warm air from inside the engine area and not from outside. Does that make sense? I don't know where the return vent for AC are so I could look to see if they are maybe somehow disconnected?

Have you checked the actual temperature coming out of the vents? I have a an infared laser thermometer which I bought in at Home Depot (about $70) which is perfect for measuring things like vent output.

Yes, I have, i can't remember what it was, but comparing to two other vehicles, Mercedes and Audi, my car was about 4-5 degrees warmer...

I have a PanS v8 2010 970 w/ 1k miles on it. Gone through all the posts but my AC issue is really odd. Sorry for resurrecting this old thread. Really need cold air since Im in a tropical country with only 2 seasons: hot and wet. In both cases I need cold AC.

Cool air comes out of EVERY vent EXCEPT the drivers side (how unlucky can you get!). Tried everything: mono, max cool, increase fan speed, toggled AC compressor switch, played around with the vent direction buttons, toggled outside air and recirculation button, etc. But front driver side vents remain to blow only normal air and not cold air like the passenger and rear vents.

I doubt if this is a compressor issue because I have cool air, just not in the right and most crucial part of the car! Control module perhaps?

Good timing on resurrecting an old thread. I have a 2015 970 and just took my first road trip and figured out I have the same problem. Regardless of the setting car would not get cool. Colder air out of the passenger side and ambient temp for driver. Had the AC checked out and refrigerant topped off a couple months ago by Porsche and everything checked out. It’s been fine for a short commute, but this was the first time on a hot road trip and it was miserable. Please post any update you might have to a fix and I’ll do the same as I need a solution ASAP.

To take a stab, oanny should have stepper motors that open and close, to increase decrease air flow, and mix cold and hot for proper temp. Just like all other porsches do.

If your car is 2010 with 1k miles on it, my vet is so.e or most of these motors are not working anymore due to age and need reacement. Ckue is in one or two working fine. while most others not working right. If ac is ok, all vents would work same way.
Soecific vents nog working right is a sign the step motors giving out due to age.
On most other porsches, have to do that, get replacement motors.

Thanks for that ciaka. So where do I locate these step motors, are they accessible? My issue is the passenger side is freezing cold while drivers side is just ambient temp.

One side cold while other side warm, is often indicator of these motors going.
As to location, I havent looked them up for panamera yet. On my cayenne, quad zone has the front ones under dash, beside stereo and under glove box. Pita to get to.
Rears are near the rear blower for cayenne, requiring to remove all trunk liners and side trim, i cluding seats.

Best thing before proceed. Would be to have diagnostics run to test each motor for function. Then you would know how eac works or doesnt. Durametric can do this for cayenne. Have not tried for panamera.
Duags try to open clise each motor, monitor boltage and movement range.

Cayenne has about 14 of these. Buying oem with dealer markup means about 200 per motor.
You can buy for cayenne new for about 80 each if you look. No idea about panamera.

Get yourself parts catalog for panamera (search my threads for panamera manual, I give links to their pdfs).
The, open one for your MY (model year), find the ac section, and you will see where each is located, with rough idea how to get to them.
Then, test these motors either at indy shop/dealer for a fee, or use diags with this ability. Tv hen replace what doesnt work.
Hope tv his will help you. Good thing us pananera was based on cayenne, so you can go through cayenne forjm section on this topic. Get decent idea of the work.
Search for cayenne ac motors or stepper motors or servo motors.

Thanks ciaka. Will do more research on this. At least the Cost of the step motors are not that exorbitant.
