Panamera questions: which one to chose?
Or...consider an S...the new turbo V6 is great and a lighter front end.
It really does depend on personal preferences...like most things in life. I recommend test driving every Panamera model to get a feel of the differences. My two cents: I had been carefully searching for a Panamera for nearly three years and have test driven every car in the Panamera line--old and new. I have never owned a Porsche (been a BMW guy for nearly 15 years), so I had a lot to learn in this new world. I initially started looking for a CPO because it's naturally the best bang for the buck. Due to my budget a couple of years ago, I was looking at an S, but I couldn't find one in the right colors with all of the options I wanted...plus I was set on the sport exhaust.
After a while, my budget grew and I started looking at the GTS and Turbo. An important distinction to realize about the GTS is that you're getting MUCH more than just a bigger naturally aspirated engine. You're getting the trim level of the Turbo--the exterior and the interior. These options really add up if you were to itemize them (18-way sport seats, upgraded brakes, etc...). Bottom line for me after experiencing the GTS/Turbo line, there was no going back--at the very least in terms of the trim and inclusive upgrades. It's just an entirely different feel--even with the engine off.
In December, I came to the realization that I wasn't going to find that perfect CPO (colors and options)--add to the mix I wanted a 2014+ body. I rationalized that if I'm paying this extraordinary amount of money for a car that I'm going to get exactly what I want. I'll eat the depreciation--I intend on keeping this car for many years to come.
Now for the performance...I recently had the option of buying a new 2014 Turbo for a steal. The dealer wanted to offload it due to the 2015s coming in. Price wise, there was little difference between this new 2014 Turbo and the new 2015 GTS I was considering (highly optioned). Bottomline, I chose the GTS. There is a different feel between the two. Yes, when you gun the Turbo, it is like a carrier catapult shot, but that's where the Turbo's exhilaration comes in...when you're heavy on the gas. The GTS, however, gave me an exhilaration just going 35MPH down the neighborhood. The sport exhaust of the GTS and the feel of the ride sold me. For me, I didn't want the temptation of stepping heavy on the gas pedal of the Turbo...it just wasn't me--even though I'm sure there are those who would disagree. Comparison IMHO (GTS=Harley Davidson, Turbo=Ducati)
I ended up custom ordering a GTS and should have it in about three weeks. You'll really like the basic Panamera, but if you can stomach the price difference, you'll absolutely love the GTS and will smile every time you open the door.

OP feedback
thank you forum members, very interesting feedback.
I will keep you all posted on which one I end up buying. The itch is there, I will be test driving the GTS, the standard one and the hybrid in the next weeks and then make a choice.
thank you all ! Peter

Exactly!!
This was my exact scenario a year ago and I came to the same exact conclusion; ordered a new 2015 GTS. The exhaust note of the GTS is intoxicating and I love the smooth power delivery of the naturally aspirated V8. The start up rumble brings a huge smile to my face every time i turn that fake key.
