Cant really decide on the next car to buy
Cant really decide on the next car to buy
i've been pondering on this for a while. I currently have a suped up Pana S and I love the heck out of that car, probably the best car I've owned and will be upgrading most likely next year.
Here comes the dilemma, i've grown up on mercedes all my life and love the S class. Test drove the new model and words cant the feeling but the problem is the vehicle is already everywhere and will only get worse as the price drops. Test drove the S class coupe and that was also amazing but disappointingly small inside.
With that said, I'll be happy sticking with the Panamera but have to choose between the GTS or Turbo. I'm leaning more towards the Turbo cause from i've been reading on the forums, its less expensive to maintain especially with a CPO and less of a headache overall compared to the GTS. Will this be accurate or am i completely off? Need advise from the Porsche vets.

I've never heard of that. In fact, I think it's the opposite. Noisy front suspensions, cooling pipes coming apart, etc. Maybe that's just because the turbo was out several years before the GTS.
I would say test drive both and the decision will become clearer... They are both 4 wheel drive and look similar... Since the GTS usually has the turbo' exterior treatment.. If you have a CPO my assumption is the maintenance will be similar since warranty items will be covered. So a test drive should settle this one...
I must have read the thread wrong cause I thought the GTS was riddled with mechanical problems after its 1st year but I guess I was wrong. I do like how rare and unique it is. The bodykit also makes it standout as well. Didnt know it simply a more powerful 4s, that's a bummer.
Regarding Tesla's I really despise those cars. It looks like a Panamera ripoff and i'm not a fan of the interior either.

Keep in mind that PTT gets you 25mpg on the hwy. 8mpg when you play hard. Average is around 18. As much as a V6 porsche Cayenne. But turbo gets you a lot more fun.
GTS is just hooked up 4S without spending all the money for all the options that you would for the 4S to make it hooked up.
Tesla p85d sound really good at 3.2s 0-60mph at 650hp.

Bottom line, while the GTS lacks the ultimate power of the turbo, its NA engine lacks any sense of turbo lag and provides immediate power as only a NA engine can do -- coupled with its ride/handling, it makes for a VERY entertaining car to drive around.
Since you already have a souped up S (and in a lot of ways, the GTS is a souped up S), I agree that you should seek out a GTS (and a turbo) for a drive -- let us know how they all compare -- could think of a lot of worse things to do
Get Turbo, but 2014 or newer... They have a much better PDK mapping and better sounding exhaust and less of a turbo lag compared to 2013 or older models. I've heard from some people that the turbo lag on 2014 and up has really been improved and is way less noticeable.

The PGTS, even in the lowest suspension setting tracks very well and with the Sports Exhaust on is surprisingly quiet for highway cursing, even without the dual pane glass. Much better on the highway than the A8, S Class or 7 Series IMO. Additionally, the PGTS is fun to drive, as it is about as close to a 991 as you can get in driving dynamics. I am sure that the PTT/PTTS are also entertaining to drive, but I like the NA engine and Alcantera interior. Perhaps my preference for the PGTS is because I get my turbo teleporting kicks with the 991 TTS, but if I had to chose between the two for just one car, it would be the PGTS.
I agree with that. I just got a 2014 PTTS, it is a different car than the 2011 PTT I had. Much more fun and more engaging to drive.
