Replacement brake pads to minimize brake squeal and dust

I am looking to replacement the brake pads on my Panamera GTS with an aftermarket brake pad that will help to minimize the embarrassing brake squeal I get at low braking speeds, and one that creates minimal dust.

I have seen some of the aftermarket ceramic brake pads available....I don't have ceramic brakes....will I still be able to use ceramic pads?

If anyone has any recommendations, I would appreciate it.

Thanks in advance.

Yes can use ceramic pads. I swapped my GT-R factory pads because I could not STAND the noise and dust. Working well with Hawk ceramic pads front and rear.

I was at my wits end with my panny before shortly after getting it used. The brake squeal was down right embarrassing, so I bought a new set of brake pads had them replaced no more issue.

Cool, thanks for the info guys.

I will look into the Hawk ceramic pads for my GTS. Would you happen to know the right part number for the Hawks for the Panamera?

How much does it typically cost just to change the brake pads? I'll probably go to an independent mechanic for this work.

A quick Google search didn't reveal anything in the Akebono line for the Panamera. In fact I am having a very hard time finding any ceramic brake pads for the Panamera. Anyone have any info to share?

I can't find Hawk pads, Akebono, etc. in ceramic.

i am curious- do ceramic pads have the same stopping power or characteristics as the metallics?

I heard that ceramic pads will wear your rotors much quicker than regular pads. Is that true?

If I am changing the brake pads only (not the rotors), is it necessary to change the sensors too?

I would assume yes, but any advice would be appreciated.

Yeah, if you get the light then it means the connection on the sensor is broken. It might just be one mensor, but it's a good practice to replace them all, as they are not that expensive (around $35).

fwiw, squealing can frequently be addressed/resolved by re-bedding the brakes -- see, e.g. http://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/sh...uot-the-brakes!

This won't eliminate the dust, but keep in mind that ceramic pads simply produce a different colored dust. FWIW
