Lifting the Rear of P4S

Hello. I've seen a post on insane garage about four primary lift points on the Panamera, and 4 secondary lift points.

http://www.insanegarage.com/lifting-...ngs-need-know/

I see that there are instructions to remove the transverse strut as what seems to be a precaution. Has anybody lifted the Panamera with rear secondary lift points without removing the strut? Has it caused issues?

I ask because if so, I have to remove an underbody lining before I remove the strut before I lift the rear.

Obviously if it's going to bend, break, or plastically strain something, I'll take the extra steps. Thanks all!

okay, cool. so my name is superscribe. I enjoy long walks in the mountains. I purchased a P4S because I like nice things, but I also dig natural aspiration. I get sideways with the Panamera sometimes because it's awesome. I can get 3 other friends in my Panny and still smoke other cars in the corners, which is where I think the real racing happens. The Burmester system is ridiculous, but I'd just really like to make some changes which require the car to be on stands.

It's nice to meet you all, and if you've ever worked on an AWD Panamera, I'd love to dialogue about that damn rear strut.

you only need to remove transverse strut if you intend on using the secondary lift points...which should only be if you need to work on something that the primary lift points would be a part of

and to use the secondary lift points...you'd have to initially lift it with the primary points to be able to remove the transverse strut

Hawk375, I'd need to use the secondary lift points to get a jack onto the primary lift points.... so if i wanted to use the primary lift points I'd have to use the secondary lift points provided I don't have a factory lift.

Not sure why you'd have to use the secondary lift points to use the primary lift points. I've lifted at the primary lift points with a standard hydraulic jack without any problems.

I've always been told that it's not good to have the car resting on a hydraulic jack for long periods of time. As a result. If I lift it with race jack, then I want rest the car on jack stands, I don't see how I'd do that with out using a primary and secondary. Sounds like you're saying the transverse strut's gotta come off?

the strut itself isn't meant to be load bearing, it can bend or break under the weight of the car...you'll have to remove it before you use the mounting points as a lift point.
