Still can't figure out why Porsche can't sell the Porsche Approved warranty in the U.S. As they do in Europe?

 

I notice you got the platinum coverage, do you know what's the difference between the gold plus? My price for platinum 5 years is 6400. Also do you need to add tax? Thanks

Here you go it's no secret. He works for a big chain which includes Porsche. He sells fidelity at a very fair price.

I encourage everyone to message him after you get a ridiculous price from your local dealer.

Dug up my bill of sale. It was actually $4838, and the car (2010 ptt cpo) had 24,308 miles on it. It is the Fidelity platinum policy, which is exclusionary. I got the warranty through the dealer, but I think the reason it's cheap is because of the mileage (which reflects months of shopping around). I believe < 25K miles gets you a much cheaper bracket of warranty. When I was looking at cars with 50K+ miles it seemed like the warranties cost 8-9 K and covered less years.

Based on Goonie's post, looks like I may have padded the dealer's pockets. But, it was a tough deal all around so I'm ok with leaving a few 100 on the table to get the deal done and get such low mileage for a 2010...

 

I do have Porsche Approved warranty and was about to do big service at Porsche and got surprise: was informed that I must buy all parts, liquids, filters, etc form them, I meant from that particular Porsche center, if I will buy from somewhere else the same Porsche Genuine parts my warranty will be gone. And of course they sell everything +40% comparing what I would pay if I buy all necessary parts myself directly from Germany.

So question is: W.T.F. !!! Porsche refuses to use their own Genuine parts and says that they can't guarantee that they are genuine if not bought from that center and doesn't matter that all packed as has to be, with bar codes everything the same what they charge those +40%

I'm very pissed off and pretty sure that they just simply cheating and in my warranty nothing is mentioned from where parts has to be bought.

Contact corporate. In America there's a law that forbids just this scenario. You can service wherever you want and they can't deny warranty claim. Just keep records and service car at approved places.

 

Yes, I can service wherever I want, I know, but that Porsche center (nearest to me) refuses to use Genuine Porsche parts provided by me and pushes me to buy from them.
That is an issue.

 

I think the biggest issue here is they know they aren't making an $$ of the repairs so they need to make some shekels off the parts.

 

That's different thing and I don't blame them for trying this out but, officially is stated:

• All work has been performed by Porsche trained technicians
• Only Genuine Porsche parts have been used

So if is written on the package that it is genuine Porsche part and it is properly packed, then HOW official Porsche center can denied to use them !!!!

Oh, one thing I forgot! they are saying that they can't use them only because of their internal rules here is translated reply from Porsche:

We can not service the car with parts purchased by you not because of manufacturer's warranty rules, but because of our internal. We ourselves are giving our own work/parts warranty. We do not have measures to establish the origin of parts delivered by you and we can't take responsibility for them.
That is why we work only with parts purchased from us and in case of bad part we can replace those parts and manufacturer will cover parts and labor costs.

Update: went to another Porsche Approved dealer/workshop (actually it belongs to the same company ! ! ) and had no problems to use Genuine Porsche parts which I had and warranty stays valid as it was; besides that I've been told, (what I knew already), that oils and fluids doesn't have to be bought from Porsche, they just must match Porsche specifications, except brake fluid which strictly has to come from Porsche.
