Here is the kicker... It has a brand new Turbo S engine in it. CPO with about three months of original warranty left on it. I'm a little nervous but it is a CPO and I do think it is a bit of a sleeper with the brand new Turbo S engine in it. Put some money down with my credit card to hold the car and finishing the deal tomorrow with the salesman. What do you all think?

Does it have and engine from a MY14 or newer? I'm a little confused because you say it has an engine from the brand new turbo S. If not you can tune a turbo to the same specs as a turbo s at one point they used different turbochargers and the "S" ones spooled up faster with less lag but they had a recall on them and the 2011/12/13 now use the same ones as in the standard turbo. As long as they are willing to stand behind it, and you are planning on keeping it for a significant amount of time you should be OK - if you think you might not be keeping it I would walk away becasue the resale will be horrendous
Plan on keeping it for a while . It is CPO so covered for a couple of years. Don't know what fy engine they put in... I think I said it has a brand new turbo s engine in it, but didn't say it was from the new turbo s. The turbo s engine they put in has 200 miles on it now. Will ask and am curious now that I know the difference. Thanks for the info!
If it has a new 2014 PTT engine (not PTTS) then its a good deal. I have a 2010 PTT with new 2014 PTT engine since the last one just died. If someone put a PTTS engine, that means it could have been a hack job. Who knows.
Dealer would never replace PTT with PTTS engine unless you got major hookups. Computer would have to be reprogrammed and all.

It sounds very fishy and while tempting, it will always be a challenge to sell again and you don't know why the switch has happened.
I would stay away....

So did you end up getting it?
I like the interior package with the dark birch. And the burmeister too. Wish mine had burmeister. But not a fan of the rear wiper. Is there a rear wiper delete mod lol?

i did buy it or am doing so. deal complete tomorrow. Taking the plunge and trusting the CPO to keep me out of trouble. Might look into getting sport plus software and button added later. if they get paper work completed tomorrow in time i will book a flight and drive it home this weekend. Excited to say the least...
Drove the Car back from Connecticut Porsche dealership after picking it up Saturday. New engine still breaking in. I have been warned that placing a turno s engine in a turbo is a no-no as things will not hook up/work properly but everything apparently works flawlessly. Apparently no turbo engine available so with Porsche approval (I'm told) they placed turbo s engine in car and sent previous turbo engine in for an autopsy... Only revving to 4k still gives (to me) insane power that ive never experienced before. car is planted like you would expect from a porsche. love the curves at speed! Hoffman Porsche places a radar detector in a leather housing above mirror which worked quite well on trip back though i rarely went above 80 to pass someone... A few minor flaws as you would expect in a 2010, but so far very satisfied. snowed furiously during my last 20 minutes of driving and car needs a wash. picked up wheel insurance and interior leather insurance for stains/ cuts etc as it is such a light leather. Have had a lot of problems with hidden potholes here in Green Bay winters.
Never saw another Porsche on whole drive back!

All new engines are already broken-in by the factory. So you dont have to do that. This is not an american car. Germans know what they are doing. You probably have no real proof that its the TURBO S engine. Maybe you have a regular TURBO engine and the guy just made it up and told you its Turbo S. I wouldnt believe salesmen. Especially from NY, NJ or CT. Those guys play games - trust me!
If they change the engine - they would have had to swap the Computer too. If that wasnt done - then its just a regular Turbo engine.
I think the Cam is different on the Turbo S engine as well compared to regular turbo engine. Otherwise looking at both you would not be able to tell the difference.

you may be right. is there any id on the engine to mark it as a turbo s? i see turbos s engine pics online marked as turbo s. mine simply says turbo.... bummer. takes the shine right off, doesnt it. a sucker is born every minute...

They are basically the same engine, so don't get bummed. At one point Turbo S used different Turbo chargers but there was a recall on them and they were all replaced with the same ones in the standard Turbo engine. Other than that I think the only difference is the intake plenum (which would be marked Turbo S) and the ecu tuning.
