Question about service cost

Ironic

I’d just posted how reliable my 2010 Panamera 4s has been (which is true) but I just brought it in for the camshaft controller recall and mentioned that the shocks feel kinda rough (don’t have air suspension). Turns out a rear spring is broken...and something about the front control arm bushings.

$5k to fix. What??? I love this car and realize it’s expensive...but how did this happen and why does it cost so much to fix?

I’m the only driver of 60k miles and I’m pretty conservative, don’t recall hitting anything. I can’t help but feel I’m being scammed on (it’s a Porsche dealer). Any feedback would be most appreciated!

LOL ... Because you drive a Porsche. You have to pay the $service to Porsche dealer everytime you bring your car in . Hurt !!! Welcome to the club.

You need to find a good reliable mechanic to fix your Porsche and buy Porsche part from https://www.sunsetporscheparts.com/ or https://www.suncoastparts.com/ whichever is less. That will reduce your $pain.

Hope you feel better ...

I feel you... My 3 month experience with the P. Stealership was down right painful as well. Like Doug said find a Indy mechanic that's really good that will save you money.

Great responses you guys! I’m over the initial shock....the car truly has been awesome and so has the dealership. I’m just gonna pay it and be happy. It’s certainly cheaper than buying my dream Sport Turismo Turbo...tricked out the way I’d want it is about $200k

I would definitely seek out an independent Porsche Mechanic. Just Google for your area. On my 2012 Panamera Turbo S I have just had two front sway bar links (where the ball/socket joints can get worn) replaced with Porsche parts and all the bushings re greased for $250 for everything. I suspect it would have been a lot more at a Porsche dealer. Your $5K seems extortionate.

I agree with this since this is just general mechanical repair that virtually any mechanic could accomplish. I would leave the engine and electrical control systems to the dealership.
