Blacking our chrome on trunk

What’s the best way to black out the chrome on the trunk (panamera, the chrome line, and Porsche sign) I saw a plastidip video, but heard it fades and peels and looks terrible after a while

what are my options

Orangeokie posted my thread here - have a look at that for the plasti-dip option. I've washed my car twice since doing this and have not had any issues of pealing. Of course only time will tell, but I'm pretty OCD with keeping up cars so if it starts to look like crap, it will be taken off and/or redone. Your options would be to plasti-dip the emblems and wrap the chrome strip, plasti-dip it all, buy new badges in the color of your choice (pricey), or take off each badge and paint them (a pain).

Thanks!

If you prep it before plastidip, it will hold just fine...the problem is that people don't clean the surface thoroughly or are not patient applying it - usually ends up looking like crap then.

Four and half years later.

Many, many light coats over a very clean surface.

You did a great job on the plasti-dip, the car washing was what I was worried about also...what brand dip did you get and how many coats

Plasti dip branded plasti dip.

Probably somewhere between 8 and 10 light coats on those tiny letters. You need to spray it a couple times from every angle.

The most difficult badge was the Tristar below the trunk spoiler, because there isn't a good way to spray and then pull from the top.

I used bamboo skewers to pick out the plastidip. I think I had to resort to something sharper on the tiny "B"s on the side badging.

opinion?

Thinking about blacking out the letters and strip with PlastiDip. My exterior color is Dark Blue Metallic. Wondering if the matte black letters and trim would be too subtle / disappear against the dark blue. Opinions?
