Injector noise

For the past month I’ve had a noise coming out of the engine area. It sounds like a sewing machine (literally). I took it in and was diagnosed as noise coming from the injectors. I was happy that they found out what was causing the issue, right until they told me that Porsche said it is normal. Anyone else have this noise issue? Mine is a 2017 Panamera 4S with 9000 miles on it.

Yes, it is a known characteristic of direct-injection engines. In these engines, the injectors work at high pressure in order to inject the gasoline directly into the combustion chamber. The high pressure operation causes the noise that you are hearing. Whether or not you actually hear it in a specific car depends on the injectors themselves, their position in the engine compartment, other noises produced by the engine, etc.
