New DD- Audi S7/RS7 vs Panamera GTS
New DD- Audi S7/RS7 vs Panamera GTS
So, I sold my daily drive A6. It was a great car with the 3.0t but it was starting to rack up miles. I put on roughly 15,000-17,000 a year for work so I need something reliable.
I was very close to buying a 16 S7 CPO for around $55k. Good options, 30,000 miles. TT V8 with the hatch is a nice touch. (albeit the problematic 4.0t motor). I had been shopping RS7's as well, but the brake maintenance costs along with finding one under $70k that isn't a pile of crap has been tough.
Enter the Panamera GTS. I am seeing some CPO 15's for around $65K. I'm thinking this may not be a bad alternative. The styling is going to have to grow on me but I had a 13 Cayenne S in the past I liked but was too big for daily use as I don't like DDin an SUV.
Thoughts from the Porsche crew? Obviously I'm going to get some biased results on this forum but I usually get good info here.
First world problems.

My experience: If you plan to drive a lot of miles I would suggest the Porsche. In my ownership history with multiple Audis they can be temperamental when older with higher mileage and require high-dollar repairs. The RS7 statement you mentioned is true. In addition to the turbo problems they also carry high maintenance costs. Yes, expensive cars cost $$$ to own and operate but my Audi experiences were not pleasing with the amount of "little things" that should not be problematic especially on a premium German-made vehicle.
How long have you owned the RSP Supra? I have owned 3 MKIVs and was heavily involved in the MKIV world for 10+ years.

I own both an Audi A7 tdi and a panamera V8 Turbo. They are both beautiful cars and serve two different purposes for me. The Porsche is twice the car of the Audi. Solid as a tank, nimble as a gazelle and faster than a cheetah. While the Audi is quite unique in it looks, and the diesel engine a peach, the Panamera gets all the looks and the thumbs up from onlookers. You won't have to worry if you like the looks, because everyone else loves it!
I'm a bit confused that you sold the A6 due to reliability concerns and you're considering S7/RS7 and a Panamera GTS as replacements. If you're concerned about piling on mileage and associated maintenance you may want to pick up a second car to compliment the GTS. I came from an S8 into my Panamera and its definitely a night/day difference, but I chalk it up as cars with different purposes.
Why a GTS ? When I was looking for my car I started realizing one can pick up a Turbo for the same money. There is no replacement for ...turbo power
And then there is the yucky alcantara interior.
The same conundrum plays on the 911 side (GT3 vs GT2/Turbo). I never understood why people want to pay so much money for a normally aspirated car.
