2 great tools for those of you who often change fluids

Wanted to share my positive experience with 2 tools I used during my recent major maintenance on the Pannie. I am not sponsored by any of these companies, but just hope it will save somebody some time.

1] Mityvac fluid evacuator : can drain any fluid reservoir quickly. Also has the option of reversing the flow and subsequently depositing the extracted fluids in a different type of container or measuring cup (example : if you want to know exactly how much you extracted out of a differential housing). Has a ton of applications where normally in the past I would have used the turkey baster. This morning I even used it to extract the oil out of my Honda snowblower, avoiding the entire procedure where you have to tip over the equipment in order to drain the engine. Those of you who've changed the oil on their lawnmower know what i am talking about...
As mentioned, it came in really handy while doing differential oil changes on the pannie. Basically you empty the reservoir through the visual inspection hole, avoiding the drain plug removal process all together, which is a real pain for the front differential.

2] Endoscopic camera with light : allows you to have a look into any reservoir you've just filled, giving that extra peace of mind. Also comes in handy when e.g. working on removing the downpipes or any other area inside the engine bay where one does not get great visibility as to what you're doing. I picked up a 25$ unit from Amazon which uses the iPhone as it's screen (Bluetooth integrated). The integration with the smartphone allows you to make pictures or video for future reference. I've attached a video where I have a look inside my PDK transmission after I had filled it. It's busy in there

Hope this saves somebody some time !

970 is an unknown quantity at this point
You're a brave man! I'd hazard sticking a 20 dollar camera down a 20,000 dollar PDK. With my luck I'd have it get stuck and break off...

Want a great tool?
Motive power bleeder.
Perfect for fluid replacement, brakes or other fluids.
can get kit for Porsche fluid covers and universal for other cars. Brake flush is a breeze with this.

Motive makes good products, I've had both their power bleeder and filler for over a decade.
Lately I also added a vacuum brake bleeder (powered by air compressor) to my arsenal. Instead of a 'push' type of tool it's pull (you run it from the brake caliper). Can also be used for dozens of other applications, I recently used it to pull heating oil into the furnace after my lovely wife ran the tank empty
