O2 sensor replacement

Hello Everyone -

About to replace an O2 sensor before attempting 80k service w/ Plugs, Coils, Filter & PDK fluid - I thought I would get this done first as durametric shows Bank 1 Sensor 1 is problematic.

I ordered Part 970-606-124-01-M14 - can anyone help confirm this is bank 1 sensor 1 and also, confirm which O2 sensor this is (drivers/passengers - front/rear)? I ask as I have found conflicting info online and parts specialist seemed to be confused as well - I hurried order through in advance of being 100% sure so I can get this done ASAP and am hoping it wont be an issue.... Also - is this something that a standard mechanic can be trusted to do? Specialty Indy + Stealership have quoted absurd prices and I dont think I am capable of doing this myself - please help!

Thanks in advance!

That is the pre-cat, right side, so it's for bank 1. Go ahead and get the sensor for bank 2, and do them both. 970-606-123-01. Sensors should always be replaced in pairs, and they lose their sensitivity over time. I replace them all around 50k.

Any shop can do this work. Heck, anyone that can fog a mirror can do the work if you have an O2 wrench, which you can rent for free from Autozone. Edit: If you yourself are going to do the plugs, and PDK filter/fluid, you can definitely handle the O2 sensors.

Can anyone confirm if bank 1 = right or left? I am finding that bank 1 = right side, not left - am I just an idiot?

For V6 and V8 bank 1 = right according to the service manual. #1 cylinders on both motors are right front side of the engine.

Hope this helps. Haven't had to replace the O2 sensor in the Panamera yet but let us know how it is.

Noipe, you are correct. I went back to my SBC knowledge. Cyl 1/bank 1 is left on a Chevy.

OK good I may have to start a repair thread on this - I am throwing multiple misfire codes, o2 sensor + some transmission stuff too - car is not driveable right now. Plan is to change O2 sensor, do 60k-80k service (mainly plugs/coils/fluids) and see how the car sits then... hopefully this takes care of it... next will be upper/lower control arms + links but wont be dealing with suspension until engine issues are sorted out - wish me luck! thanks again everyone!!

Thank you, TallPaul for engine reference. I have 2016 Pan4, I just got error $ engine light on due to O2 sensor bank 2 sensor 1, and O2 Sensor ahead of bank 2 conv. dynamics. B2, is it the driver side, before the coverter? i was on the wrong side in the prevoius post. I don't think I can do it. I just had left shoulder surgery, I need to bing the car to Indy or muffler shop, I am in San Jose bay area? any recommendations? Should I replace all 4? Many Thanks for pointing where the sensor is and recommendation.

Replaced in pairs ?? and you recommend to replace bank 2 as well, which means all 4 sensors when only one gives isuue ? and even if there is no issues still replace all at arround 50k ? WOW !!!!

So what for car is equiped with ECU which monitors precidely O2 status and gives CHECK ENGINE light anyone goes wrong and by connecting diagnostic tool it shows what exsactly is wrong.

P.S> O2 sensors parts numbers, just in case (for 970 with Engine Code 4870)
