Opening PDLS Headlights?

Hey all,

Trying to separate the headlight lense from the body but didnt want to risk baking the headlight with a the wiring and such inside, as its PDLS.

Has anyone encountered this? Any tips on whether or not the innards could withstand the heat, or advice for removing them successfully?

Im doing something similar to what I have seen on here once before with a demon eye and painting bezel. I have also previously done it to my mkiv supra, however those dont have inner-contained electrical parts so are far easier.

I was thinking of doing the same. I've read on another forum that an oven or heat gun will not soften the sealant used(on Cayman/Boxster), it is more of the hardened type sealant and not necessarily rubbery. It will have to be scraped off and pried open. Might crack some things on the first one.

I believe it's hella permaseal which is much stronger than usual but seen that it has been done... search for morimoto on here and a good thread will come up. The problem is, that thread is on non PDLS lights so Im not sure about all the electronics and zip ties etc. Lens should come off at 270 degrees for 7 minutes though.

Ah ok, I've seen some baked at 230-240 degrees. Could give that a test run maybe, if you decide to go for it.

I likely will, because I have already bought the stuff needed to modify haha! I just need to know how to remove the internals... and what can be left in there when baking.
