PCM oddity
PCM oddity
Got in the car this morning, fire her up adn pull out of the garage, PCM say still loading media (USB)- not that unusual as it can be a bit slow.
start driving down the road, get to the end of the street - still loading, OK this is new.
Try changing the source, goes right back to USB and keeps trying to load, turn the PCM off, then back on and still trying to load!
make the 20 minute drive to work in silence, still loading, still can't change the source. Turn the car off, open the door and then turn the ignition back on - same.......
Turn it off again, unplug the USB memory stick, turn it back on, still trying to load but USB is no longer a option......
any ideas on what to try next?

everything worked except the audio related bits, couldn't change the source, but if I pulled th USB memory stick and then turned it back in it detected it ok, but never loaded.
tried a factory reset - same, a friend suggested disconnecting the battery for and hour - that did the trick, now have my Burmester sounds back in all it's glory
for reference the nut on the battery terminal is 10mm

Hey @Dowood! Glad it’s working again. Any chance your hard drive might be starting to act up and fail? I’ve read that it’s a HDD so will fail over time. Read that some have upgraded to a SSD (typically when they do the CarPlay add-on).

need to find a good write up on it somewhere......
If you do SSD keep a backup at least, if possible on HDD platters. Don't know if they ever solved the NAND memory degradation. Sure felt like they didn't working on my PIWIS SSD when all of a sudden whole boot drives vanish. (Regular recovery software does not work on SSD. I confirmed this by trying before finding out that they don't online. When SSD memory is gone, it's GONE)...
