Windshield hit by a rock on the highway the other day. Impact had that characteristic sound. Initially thought that I “got away with it”. Today noticed large crack developing from the point of impact.
Will need to replace and insurance will cover most of the cost but will only pay for an aftermarket windscreen. I’ll have to pay the difference if I want OEM glass.
Has anybody had to replace the windshield on their Panamera? Aftermarket vs OEM? I’m thinking OEM with an installer with Porsche experience. I presume dealer just subcontracts to a glass shop so can save $ by cutting out the middleman. Any thoughts/ideas appreciated.
I have a good relationship with the local Porsche dealership so I called and asked who they use. As expected, they subcontract windshield replacement and they connected me with their preferred shop.
I have a 2014 4S. Looks like Guardian was the OEM supplier? Can anyone confirm? Other forum posts (mainly 911) have noted Saint Gobain/Sekurit as the OEM supplier.
