transmission slipping around 4600-4700 due to hi torque. The slippage disrupts the rpm and hp and torque dropped. According to the tuner/shop 40 wheel hp is very likely. Around 60 wheel torque again.
I can see your actual recorded gains were 21hp and 59tq. So to clarify - the tuner thought you could do an additional 40hp/60tq on top of that 21/59? Or he thought the potential total gain was around 40hp/60tq?
Also, it makes me wonder if something like the FVD PDK flash is (or should be) basically mandatory for tuning a Turbo. FVD PDK reflash advertises it can increase clutch pressure. I'd sure rather pay $1500 for the PDK flash than to smoke the clutch pack.
Is the slip supposed to be the big dip at 4700rpm, or the dropoff at 6000?
I'd expect slippage closer to the torque peak, not high in the rpm band.
I'm not sure I like the way the tuned car is down on power above 6000rpm.
Edit: jeeze I need to go to sleep my reading comprehension sucks you specifically said slippage was at 4600-4700.
So does the tuner think the clutch was slipping from 4600 to redline, and the entire plot to the right of 4600 is lower than it would be without slip?
The shop i went to said racechip is the best option for our cars Vivid Racing and others are not consistent. I am actually the first one to take the car in for a baseline and with a tune. He has done a VR tune in the past and even with VR customer support help the car was loosing power. its a great shop and he shared lots of knowledge. His shop got around 10-12 GTRs getting worked on from 2000hp to beefed up transmissions and 2 lambos with one getting the 1500 hp treatment. He said if there is no slippage the 40 HP is normal. However only had the car running map 7 due to time constraints. I will book a longer session to get the car to run through map 1-4 and map 6 as map 5 is factory setting and i have just tan map 7. A longer session is needed for the car to properly cool down
Very interesting.
I'd be very interested to know if he has dyno'd cars with FVD tunes, and his opinions on them.
FVD is one at the top of my shopping list.
