I am trying to replace the dash trim piece but have run into a snag with the center bit. (trim piece trying to swap in pic below)

While the door trim pieces is just a pull, this one gets stuck in the middle, as seen below.
The blow out diagram doesn't pinpoint anything either.
Does anyone know how to remove this piece? I have seen others ask, but I haven't seen any responses with a resolution.
