You want pictures of engine without trim? HERE, go knock yourself out...this is the plugs/coils replace DIY, you can refer to it to not break some plastic that otherwise you may.
Hope this helps.

I used that when I swapped them, trying to find out what this part is and if it should be plugged into something...

This looks like a connector that is part of the wiring harness, on the driver side of the engine, along the fuel rails....I dont have good picture of this, hope someone else has better image or can jump out to take a pic....I am en route out of country now.
But this looks like a connector that is intended to be wired to two wires, above the valve cover before the engine dampener. This image came out of my DIY for starter replacement. If anyone has more detailed pic it would help. There is a 2 wire cable going up to that....look around the area for loose ends.

For the life of me can't find anything for this to plug into!!!
On a different note while I was waiting for the coils to show up today I grab one of the old ones and swapped out cylinder 2 and all of the sudden I no longer have misfires on Cylinder 2 or 4!! WTH?!? However I'm still getting the codes P0016 crankshaft position vis-a-vis intake camshaft bank 1 and P1583 Sport mode not available. Any thoughts on that? Bank 1 is passenger side correct?

I don't know if and how that plugs in. Covered by plastics and I. Out of the country. Either way the plug not getting looked at by me. Maybe someone else can check.

Bank1 is pass side.
crankshaft pos sensor. Hmmm. Clear it. Strange your misfires went away. Is your harness dry and cracking? May need re wrapping with insulation tape.
I'd clear errors and leave covers off to take for spin.
leave it in normal mode.

If doesnt throw errors in usual time, switch to sport mode and drive more.

Harness is good, I've cleared it and it comes right back on start up did it twice after the misfires went away to verify it and both times after clearing that code comes back right on start up. My next thought is to try a new sensor, maybe got a "bad" new one? If that doesn't solve it from what I'm seeing it's more then likely a extended timing chain....fingers crossed it nots that, she has less then 100k on her...Ciaka thank you, you've been great with all this so far!!

Totally flaked on this honestly. I was troubleshooting a home networking speed issue and completely forgot. Got to leave in less than two hours for a 5k at Dodger's Stadium, and popped into my mind. It doesn't connect to anything and looks like there's a little plastic mount you're missing at the bottom.

I was limited to one pic due to size. Gonna try one more here top view hopefully it allows... (My iPhone is charging and I forgot how to set the resolution on my prior Android). It doesn't allow trying Google Drive link.

Top View Dummy Connector

This is what it looks like with the trim covers on and the rubber plug removed. Connected to nothing.

Sling shot, you've got your answer. If connects to nothing, then it's mounted to a metal bracket in that area. Take a look.
