Experiences with Lemforder Control Arms

Hi all:

I had the Lemforder front upper/lower control arm kit from FCP installed on my 970 turbo. After a couple hundred miles, they now making a creek noise when turning at low speeds (instead of the crunch noise over bumps). My mechanic hasn't taken a look yet but says it's likely the "aftermarket" control arms causing the noise. Has anyone had a similar experience with Lemforder?

Yes, same with me. Changed out both upper and lower and now have a loud crack noise when making wide slow turns. Almost sounds like tie rod ends but the noise only appeared after the control arm change.

Sorry to hear about the noise hiccup! Haven't tried Lemforder, but could it be just a "breaking in" phase? Curious to hear others' experiences!

Pretty sure it is the lower arms in my case. Changed the uppers first and no noise from them. Two weeks later installed the lowers and now noise.

I think you are correct as well. Very frustrating as I have put a significant amount of miles on the car and the noises have stayed the same/gotten worse in some instances. I am going to try lubricating the arms with grease this weekend. Hopefully that makes a change. I will report back if it does.

I installed a left front Duralast upper arm. It did not crunch nor squeak, but alignment shop could not get camber within spec, (it was out negative). Now less than 20k mi later I believe the bushings have prematurely failed...

Looking at possibly Dorman or Porsche OE plus swapping in polyurethane bushings. (Took me like 2 weeks of work to swap the arm and air strut)...

I successfully installed poly bushings in the upper control arms - no noise at all and much more positive steering feel. And no, the car car doesn't feel harsh like a worn out Civic, contrary to all the naysayers.

Upper arm bushings

2011 Pana4 with 100K and a bit of track time, upper A-arm bushings were rattling and thumping. Pressed Siberian polyurethane into the stock arms. Noise gone immediately. Handling seems crisper. A pro alignment guy found no adjustments were needed to the existing alignment after the replacement. 15K later, still crisp, no noise.

no longer good

ever since they stopped making them i Germany pure junk. Many others agree. One problem is they put little to no grease in their ball joints. Start at 4:30
Use Meyle HD line next time. I just installed Rennline parts expensive so I waited for Black Friday sale
