I'm having similar issues with the 991. Each day I think about it I'm leaning more towards a C4 GTS. With the discounts being offered I'm struggling with it.

Larry,
Are you willing to pay even more for the Turbo 991 next year? If you are, I would wait. If not, and you get the 991, get the sport exhaust option. I didn't want it, but the car had it.... I LOVE it now. When I'm cruising on the highway, I turn it off so the cabin is quiet and I can listen to the radio. When I hit windy roads, I turn it on, and every downshift is a symphony! Sounds SO GOOD!!!!!!!!

Larry,

This time around you have to wait to get the GT3. It will offer different driving experience than your current cars. I test drove a PDK 991S and thought it is nice, but not nice enough for me to trade my club coupe in.

Larry, my base car has the standard exhaust and it's important to note the standard exhaust on the 991 = the PSE on the 997. In fact my standard exhaust in sport mode sounds plenty loud and any louder would border on the absurd. The 991 will put the after market Porsche exhaust guys out of business. I just can't imagine the sound being improved on.

With regard to trading in your 997, one reason I buy lightly optioned cars is precisely for the reason you mentioned. They add ZERO value at time of trade it. A highly optioned car and a lightly optioned one will fetch exactly the same price at trade in time. This however creates a great opportunity for one buying a used car as you can basically buy all those expensive options for "free"..

I drove a GTS PDK and a 991 S PDK before settling on the 991 base car. I loved the GTS and I am beginning to love the 991 now after waffling a bit at first. Some feel that "to S or not to S" is a matter of money. For me it was a matter of preference. I prefer not having PASM and the purer feel of the base car. I prefer the 3.4 liter motor that revs freely and beautifully. The fact that is costs less is just an added bonus. Since we live in the same area you are welcome to meet me and inspect/hear my base car. Mine is white/yachting blue

It used to be that Porsche balanced the S engines better and my salesman told me that they balance the base just as well- probably due to the higher RPM spec. Do you find that true?

Waiting for the turbo sounds like a good idea, which is what I am doing after getting the 991. But if getting the 991 now, the options you have selected are fine. No additions/deletions necessary. Do get the pse simply because it is excellent (so no need for aftermarket). The standard exhaust does sound pretty good too, but the pse is just violent if you like that type of thing, with the option to switch it off if you are not in the mood.
As far as deletion, purely to save money you could skip pdcc/spasm and not miss much, except on a track, but if money is no issue by all means get it.

My apologies for changing the path of this thread, but have you had a chance to try out those sport plus seats you're thinking about getting? If so what were your impressions?
But I agree with some of the other posts on here. I think you might as well wait for the turbo or GT3 to come out. Shouldn't be that terrible of a wait since you already have great cars.

I believe my car has the sport plus seats. Adjustable 18 ways. I'm 6', 180 lbs. You can bring the sides/bolsters of the seat in (upper and lower body) and hold you almost as good as a GT3 seat, but FAR more comfortable.

I have two Porsches . One of them is an EVT700 . The other is a 997.2S . I love my Turbo !!!! Cant ever imagine selling it . I also have an M3 .

I just thought the 997.2 S swap to a 991S might update one of the cars but with Porsches price increase and the loss on the trade in I don't feel the new car is that much better to justify it .

If i had no car at all .. i might bite . On the other hand I might have bought a GTR .

As for My Turbo .. I realize you are new to the forum .. but I have been there awhile and you might even see reading these old threads that we were all in yoir shoes with excitement on the new car and taht the novelty can erode with time. Luckily on my turbo .. it hasnt .

Thee were the good old days !!!

My first impression is that this is not really a Gt3 type of car . It's more like a two door Panamera that mated with a 911 . It's not even that fast . 125K bought a faster Turbo in 07 than this car .

It's a great car fior an old man who likes a 911 like me
Its great if ones back hurts or if he wants to go to a rstaurant and have some comfort . It's more comfy than my M3 . it's so unlike a 911 that it took me a month to even drive it .

A 991 Gt3 sounds almost like wearinga suit with a pair of sandals .
The 991 just isn't hard core anymore .. but it has matured .

If I were the type of guy who didn't take care of my cars so much I guess I would feel that the trade in number is absorbed in the cars use .

But i care about my car . I shake my feet not to bring dust into it . No one eats in the car ever . I upkeep the service to the tee.

With my M3 the dealership surprised me by offering 2K more than what i expected on my 08 trade in and they were honest about it by telling me .
I bought the car .

I realize i have a lot of modifications on my car . I also realize that the new car has a huge price increase .

Larry, i read ur other thread re: 991, too.

u don't sound too sure about anything at this time.. so u should just wait.

i just don't see any excitement in ur posts when it comes to 991.

its as if u r forced to buy one.. lol.

991 may grow on u in time.. or GTR may be ur next thing.. but i think you should wait for something to stir ur senses.

there will be 991 turbo and the 991 gt3, the new acura nsx, the new viper, the new vette, the new R8 (soon enough) and even the whole line up of Lotus coming soon to compete for ur money.

wait for something that excite u.

my 2 cents

I understand your predicament perfectly. For $125K+, you want to be wowed...
I am in a similar situation. I have a modded 2009 C2S pdk green launch car with nearly 30k miles. Retail price of $125K++ for a decently-optioned new 991 C2S minus trade-in (maybe $55-60K?) for my current C2S might be a $60-70K financial hit to me.
But I do have the new car bug...I'm thinking of going a different direction though. If I'm gonna spend that much money, why not keep my 997 and just get a second car? I'm considering adding the Audi S4 as my second car. Or maybe even the new upcoming Boxter S! I think that's a much better way to blow an extra $60-70K!!!

Thank you for inserting some logic --I am wowed only on this one thing ... The PDK is great in the new car .. big improvement.

I hear you . Even if you had another car do you think the 991 bug will go away ?
