Has anyone taken the roof CRM apart to find the failed electrical component within the CRM? And what failed electrical component did you find?

The new CRM part number is: 9G43-L53085-AE
This part applies to other marquis than just DB9.

It's funny
Me and one of my friend were looking at same question yesterday trying to figure out which component might have failed in CRM MODULE, but we could not figure it out.

Bye if you need module it's much cheaper from hwm Aston Martin in UK compared to us dealer.

Other vehicle Convertible Roof Modules operate very similarly to that of the AM.
Additional detailed CRM information is in the website for those whom may be interested.

Crm

2009 DB9 (Volante):

IF failing, the CRM sends incorrect and/or no signal to other modules.

Replaced CRM (Convertible Roof Module).

ALL associated problems solved.

I replaced the two round capacitors (220uF as shown) and one resistor to no avail. The problem with failure is apparently in another conductor. I intend to evaluate the CRM circuit board. (note: I am a true layman at electronics).

I replaced the resistor. (just to the left of the capacitors)

Note: Although different sizes, the capacitors were the same, 220uF.
(Can someone please explain that to me?)

Again, this was no help.

Thanks.

I have a friend with descent knowledge of PCB repairs, when he looked at the CRM he thought it will be almost impossible to repair, as testing the circuit to find out what's defective is very difficult

I apologize for stating what is probably the obvious, but I've read of several situations in which convertible roofs that didn't work magically started working again.
Mine ('06 DB9) failed a couple of times. It corresponded with weird instrument panel readings and black-outs, and I noted it particularly after leaving the car in the driveway for a couple of hours (off the CTEK).
I replaced the battery, and I've had no roof or instrument failures since.

No oligopolies necessary.

I am just stating facts that I have encountered and how I solved my situation.

This CRM system sends intermittent erroneous information to other module components of AM's making it VERY difficult for us to solve. Hopefully, I have aided others in this endeavor.

Best.
