several months, and 2K miles later, I have my first Porsche ...

After 4-5 months of search, and many test drives, I just purchased an used 2014 Boxster S with less than 5K miles. Purchased from a dealer in Washington state. I was fortunate in that I dealt with the owner, Danny Archibald. He was awesome to work with, specially since he knows I live in Texas - he made everything very easy and straightforward - highly recommend him to anyone!.

I had the car inspected (PPI) prior to pickup by local German car specialist. Curtis was also great to work with. He basically said that the car was new, and that the "only" thing he was able to find was that the coolant system had a very small leak since he was able to add more refrigerant - something I will do here in town once I get around to go to the Porsche dealership (since of course the car is still under factory warranty).

My daughter and I flew to Pasco, Washington on Thu night, meet Danny on Friday morning (he picked up us at the hotel), signed everything & gave him the cashier's check, and started driving home towards Texas. This was the route that we took home:

We arrived in my driveway on Sunday afternoon, so almost 3x days later. Exactly 2000 miles after we left the dealership. My daughter and I had a great time, saw many amazing views of this great country of ours, and will surely remember this father-daughter trip for ever

Here is the car after a quick wash today (too tired yesterday!):

2000 miles is a great way to get to know a car, that is for sure. Prior to finding this one I was convinced and looking for a 2014+ base model, but with the options I wanted, this particular S model was actually just a little more money, and as I said, Danny & Curtis made this less stressful. I would have loved the 19" S wheels, but I gotta admit that these 20" wheels look great.

I gotta say: Having the extra power from the S model was freaking awesome in the highway. I am sure the base is enough/plenty powerful (I have test driven two base 981's) but after this drive I am happy I got the "S" model on this trip

Thanks again for all of the help, advice, pointers. Very happy with my first Porsche.

Will

Great looking car and congrats. Enjoy your permagrin!

Looks like a fun drive too, though you missed a great opportunity to hit some of the awesome back roads in the Colorado Rockies. Smart move to avoid the Kansas route! I suspect there was some time pressure, thus the extensive use of interstate highways.

First hack - get rid of the amber side markers. The clear ones will look much better on the car!

Thanks much, and yes, it was about making it home in the least amount of time. I would have liked to have like at least a week, and stop on the way, to do more sight-seeing, but I really can't complain as the trip with my daughter was awesome and we both enjoyed the long drive home.

Looks like suncoastparts have both the incandescent and the LED versions - I guess I just have to pop out my existing amber one to know which one my car has, or is it obvious I have one of the other?

Thank you guys!

Right now although with only 7K miles, since the car is two years old, I am doing a baseline maintenance:
- Oil and oil filter change
- Engine air filters (2x of them)
- Cabin air filter (one inside the cabin, and the pre-filter out front)
- Brake fluid flush

I figure might as well start ownership with good baseline

Will

Very cool. Are those the LED or the standard lights?

I went with the regular (not LED) version. I just can't justify 2x pricing for the LED
