Steering Wheel Extender

Neat but hefty price tag...
http://www.carnewal.com/
55 mm (2”) extension for the airbag steering wheel.
It is easy to install, perfect fit, really solid and works on any P93 and P96 that has a 3 or 4 spoke steering wheel.
All the hardware for installation and to reconnect the airbag and horn is included .
Ideal for a tall driver and/or the use together with 6-point harnesses.

I've been looking at getting a Momo or OMP unit with a quick release so that the quick-release will give me an extra 2" or so. The price tag on this unit just keeps me from getting one.

For track cars only the wheel extender works great but if you drive on the street a lot you need to take into consideration that with the wheel extender you will not be able to reach the turn signals without taking your hand off the wheel and reaching around it to get to the turn signal stalk which is now 2" further away from the wheel. Something to think about...

Damnit. Hadn't considered the turn signals. Unlike my DC area cohorts I actually USE them.

what exactly does a steering wheel extender have to do with using a 6 point harness?

996 steering wheel extension

Link to company who manufactures extenders. Low quantity batches is my guess so perhaps volume on group buy can bring down costs.

Who would be interested?
Any Forum sponsors interested to take this on?

^That is the install in my car.

Yes the part is pricey, but everytime I get in it just feels great with the extra room for my legs, and proper arm position at the same time.

The smaller diameter steering wheel with a flat bottom is icing on the cake.

Oh yeah, I am 6'3".

ubernoober is infamous around these parts
Just a note for those concerned with reaching control stalks; I used a similar spacer on my previous car and you quickly get used to extending your fingers a bit to sweep up the turn signal without releasing the wheel. So much so that I occasionally catch myself doing this in other vehicles.
The improvement to driving position and legroom was nothing short of heavenly.

Has anybody else come across a more reasonable option for the steering wheel extender?

I sure haven't! I wish someone in the states with a CNC machine would make one. I was thinking about it yesterday! If someone has one they no longer need PM me and I'll by it from you.
