ATF leak

Found out today that its leaking atf oil from where the gearbox connects with the engine.
Question now is how big job is this?
Is it an oring in the gear so the gearbox needs to come out? Any clue how many houers this wold take?

I bought this Porsche thinking it was a better buildt car. But its one of the cars i spent the most time fixing thing on ☺. Kindoff miss my BMW now 😂

Between engine and gearbox

The steeringrack is full of oilspill from the leak above...

Have anyone tried Omega 917? Its a product that u mix in the oil. After about a week it shuld have refreshed the gaskets and dry gaskets will be like ''new''. This will stop leaks like the one i have unless the o-ring/gasket is broke in half. 90% sucsess they said....

A friend is selling this stuff and said after a week there will not be any trace of the product in the oil. Maby worth a try. Less expensive then taking down the gearbox!

Roy, it looks like your rear main seal is leaking. It's a big job to replace as the transmission has to be removed.

My experience with any of the seal conditioners hasn't been good. These products usually only work for a short time before the seal starts leaking again. If you're planning on trading the car in, it might be worth a shot, as it will stop the leak for just enough time to pass inspection.

Sorry to hear about the RMS issue!

Porsches reliable? LOL! Maybe the older ones when quality was actually being implemented, but not today (plastic frenzy)!

Hi Dan87951

I have had probably close to ore more then 200 cars. Downside is that owning many cars of diffrent brands means they are traded out fast. So i have never needed any products to stop leaks before. What i read is exactly what you say, most "miracle" products end up being a fail! BUT this Omega 917 promise something diffrent then others... Online i cant find anything negative about 917....But im shure it exist.

I realy thought the gearbox was a writeoff...ore the transfer box, but im happy it was just a front axle..... A HUGE price difference :-)

It was the front axle? That looks like transmission fluid to me.

Im sorry, i thought you ment when i wrote my gearbox was ruined. Ore thats what i thought. Lost all traction and heard rumbling from under the seat erea. Turns out it was my front right axle that snapped right off...

The atf oil has been reduced to just wet and not dripping but they say the oil need a week to work... aweek is today but its been at the shop the last few days so i will clean under again and do alast check before calling it ok ore not.

Another funny thing is that the shop who change the oils and filters and so, got super angry at me when i thought that the gearbox was destroyed. I asked if there culd be something wrong they did that culd result in this, naturaly enough. He reacted with yelling at me... i took it calmly and told him he missunderstood me. I did not blame them, just ask them if it culd be a mistake from them.... he calmed down after a while and we parted smiling. But most customers wold never accept that treatment from a shop owner. Turns out they had a bad week with lots of issues... thats life 😂

Oh gotcha no problem! Wow an axle snapped right off? That is usually the strongest part of the car!
