Extremely excited for the progress pictures my fabricator just sent me. I'm replacing my catless FVD exhaust with this 3" X-pipe with no cats or mufflers. I can't wait to hear it!!
IM sure its sounds great but the drone will kill you and more importantly your girlfriend...
been there done that many moons ago... if you stay at 2100 in 6th gear it will howl your cabin to point that you want jump out...
I've been doing X designs for almost 10 years and Im just sharing no hating..
hope its exactly what you wished for looks great

I do get some drone but only around 2500-2700rpm and it's not that bad.
I'm not sure if Speedtech did their homework with tip design but it's hardly like what's described here in this thread. Hopefully yours is very similar to my ST.
FWIW, my Fabspeed droned a lot worse and that had 4 mufflers and cats.
Those were my thoughts upon reading some of the comments in this thread, but I didn't want to be the one to say it, I was waiting for someone else to say it :-)
Rich, it's our overall design, not just one aspect, but the sum of all parameters working together, but yes, our tips are engineered to the system and that is part of it. We have had customers switch from almost every other popular X-design exhaust due to negative experiences like those echoed above. And some of the systems we replace cost between 4-5K. From my experience, our 3" X-Pipe has less drone than most 2.5 systems with mufflers and as BauerR pointed out, the drone is in a very small window and very minimal, while the sound is incredible at all RPM's. We swap out competitors systems regularly and our customers are always thrilled with the result.

I completely understand, ya I assume it will be pretty loud and drone a ton but I daily a 700hp cammed ZL1 Camaro with just 2 Corsa muffler from the headers back so I'm pretty accustom to loud droning cars. But if it's something I can't live with, I live about 5 minutes from my fabricators shop.
love a 996tt with a x pipe. It's really not that bad in the cabin a lot of the sound gets left behind, and for what it's worth they sound really clean much better than just straight pipes out of the turbos
Heimholtz pipes ala Unobtanium will eliminate the drone. My previous system was ungodly bad to the point no one wanted to ride in the car but it was mild outside. Now all the sound is outside lol
You can google the concept but in a nutshell it's akin to a noise cancelling headset. The resonators (as a result of their length, diameter, and volume) emit a resonance (drone) frequency that is 180 degrees out of phase with the drone frequencies emitted by the exhaust. The offensive drone is cancelled as a result. The resonator is a dummy tube that is branched off the main 3" exhaust pipe on each side. Science based proven results...
looks good, I'll be doing the same/similar (with heimholtz chambers) during winter storage time....the straight-back turbo-out straight pipes I have now are drone to the max
